The Brutefactor on the Minibrute is a feedback path, not a classic overdrive. I still like external distortion on mine and +1 for gated Devi fuzz. If you use it for bass, then something like a Density Hulk/Meatbox is good for bringing the oomp.

Drive those mixer channels hard. I do that all the time to bring in grit and texture gradually, rather than kicking on a pedal.
