What is to hate? :?:

Of all the moog models I only want to have one Moog synthesizer one day: Minimoog Voyager OS.

Image

For me that's the perfectly improved "Model D". Sadly it's still very expensive. A used model costs as much as a new Voyager OS back then when it was introduced. I don't have 2000€ at hand for a monophonic synth. :(
Great call. I had a regular Voyager for a few years, sold it to get into modular, then ended up trading a bunch of Eurorack modules for a Voyager OS earlier this year. I love it, even more than the regular Voyager (it seems like a neat idea at first, but who really uses the touch pad, anyway?)

I bought a moog minitaur for a song recently and it is probably one of the coolest pieces of gear I've ever purchased. Totally transformed my band's writing and musical direction.

Nice, what kind of setup are you using it in?

To say I fucks with Moog would be a criminal understatement.
I once improvised an entire album in one sitting with a Sub Phatty and a reverb pedal.

I also did one in a couple layers/takes with a pretty similar setup, but TWO moogs and a couple overdubs/post fx.

I've had and enjoyed:
Little Phatty
Minitaur
Voyager Old School
Sub Phatty
Sub 37

I still have the Sub phatty and Sub 37 but both of them have small annoying broken things, so they've been sitting on the shelf waiting for (expensive) repairs.

I got a Sub 37 a couple weeks ago and I'm totally in love. It's got such a great sound, and the limitation of it being paraphonic just makes it more fun to me, as a poorly-skilled keyboard player. It's fantastic with pedals too of course. Kinda making me want to just record an EP with just the Sub 37 and various effects.

Here's a clippydoo

Worra, your Sub 37 pedal selection is on point! Sounds great! I'm gassing so hard for a Mercury7 lately. I specifically want to pair it with my Sub 37 to feed my current Blade Runner soundtrack addiction

Technically it is the micro version.. it's a rack unit stuffed into a pedal

Yeah it is a big pedal but like the lowpass filter I have tried tons of alternatives and I can find anything that sounds the same...

So going to the subject from my other thread... I'm going to go with the MF Boost.. and the first thing I want to try is to run the ENV Out of my MF101 into the EXP in to see what happens considering my need for a boost is to use it to ram the MF101 :idk:

also stuff
here is my super boring factory preset run-through of my slimphatty https://soundcloud.com/grindingmass/moo ... preset-run

fucking with moogerfoogers and CV and bass https://soundcloud.com/grindingmass/moog-tests

I used to own a Voyager OS and it was a work of art. I wish my other synths had that kind of build quality. Sold it years ago and have kinda moved away from the Moog sound, but I did own a Minitaur for a bit.

I ended up selling the Minitaur when I picked up an SH-101 thinking that the Roland would cover some similar ground, then the fucking thing shows up broken.

Nice to see all that Voyager OS love. Damn. Seems like I have to save money over the next few years.

@murch33: DOA is shit. What exactly is broken? Do you have a good tech in your near?

The big problem is the filter cutoff is basically an on/off switch, anything below like 9.5 on the slider acts like you've turned it down to zero. I have to leave it wide open and run it through other filters.

It also has a couple of stubborn keys that I'm sure just need cleaned, and it only powers on from a power supply. It won't run off batteries. Both of those I can live with if the cutoff would just respond correctly.

I'm kind of in the middle of nowhere so no techs locally. I'll eventually get annoyed enough with it that I'll lose the fear of killing it and just tear it apart myself.

The filter thing might be a dirty potentiometer only. I would recommend to open the synth and apply tuner (!) spray to it.
As far as I can see it in internet pictures the synth has rubber contacts for the key triggers. Disassemble them, use Q-tips to clean the "black parts", then renew these parts with graphite spry. Spray the graphite spray in an old clean plastic cup (you have to throw it away after that procedure) and use a pencil or a Q-tip, dip it in the liquid graphite spray and apply it on the rubber contacts. Let it dry for a day and then they will work as new. PROMISED!
