This is the coolest tape echo unit imo with that lush reverb and the configurations available+multiple heads

I love my SpaceCase TE-1. It sounds insanely wonderful. I used to have a Crudman cassette mellotron (www.crudlabs.org). It was pretty cool, but didn't work in my flow. I also have a Tascam 246 (which I love), and a Tascam 112, which I use for mix coloring/mastering. I also have an 1/8" splicing block and leader tape so I can make custom loops and musique concrète-style weirdness with cassettes.

I desperately want a Nagra SNST.

Tape is rad.

not only do i compose with it, but i frequently use it as a source, you can record at super speed, and play it back at a crawl...

Yep that's the one! It's like the shitty Portastudios we had in high school, just like... actually nice and quite professional

Tons of records have been made on em... I think Paul's Boutique? Lots of Ty Segall's stuff, White Fence. It can sound super pristine or get really crusty. It has this great dbx noise reduction button that doesn't really reduce noise so much as squash the shit out of everything in a great way. I'll definitely let you know if I sell it, and yes... not easy to move, would VERY much be staying local haha.

And should add that I wasn't ragging on Portastudios... I love those things. It just funny as hell to think that the 388 was sorta the previous version.

I mean I'll have to convert it to digital anyways. So why have all this tape shit, then convert it afterwards?
