The t.c. T2 and original HOF only do post-verb modulation, like running the reverb full wet into a chorus and mixing the post-processed signal back with the dry. The big studio Lexicons and PCM-70, 8x, and 9x, and Eventide modulate the component delays that build the reverbs. More subtle, less Flerby. Mind you, I liked the HOF when I had one.

Some newer pedals are doing the modulated delay line reverb stuff, so rack-avoiders can be happy. But, man, the Eclipse . . .

Have you owned any of the PCMs?

Anytime. Also, I forgot to mention the Matthews Cosmonaut V1.5. That's a modulated reverb (not to be confused with the Astronomer). It's $199 new, so likely $140-170 used.

Oh wow, you lost me with the second sentence, but I think I get what you mean about how the modulation would be different.

No, but just for lack of funds when I've seen a deal come around. I got stupid good deals on my Eclipse and then a DSP-7000 and sold shit to fund them. I'm just trying to have enough of a fun fund to hit a deal on an 80 or 81 (or pay the going rate if I save enough). It's not that Eventide is better, just that the prices were in the "Well, fuck, I just have to buy this or I'm never gonna afford to buy one" range.

I'd reaaally like one as well, but alas, they fetch some steep prices (80's seem to be cheaper than 81's though).

I've been eyeing the matthew effects cosmonaut. 2 modulated reverbs, 2 on/off switches.

Is there a reverb with footswitchable modulation in the manner how the disaster transport has the modulation footswitchable? I love modulated reverb, but I don't need it piled on top of other modulation, and don't really want multiple reverbs on my board now as I'm using delay a lot more heavily.

Eventide Space has a "hot switch" where you could assign every parameter to that switch. No need to get an expression pedal or an aux switch, although is really helpful.
