Also, I have to say that I laugh my ass off anytime I see someone demoing a sampler or a drum machine. The button presses/knob twists are such caricatures—it's like something studied straight out of the electronic music manual.
Like the Octatrack, it is designed with performance in mind, and as a centerpiece. I'm not really into that, either. I have a microGranny and a DR-202 and feel I'm just as well off, for my needs, at less than half the price.
Oh I was more just making fun of all the "DJ moves."
I totally get that it's made with performance in mind, just funny to me that everybody has the same "performance."

One other thing I can't seem to get a clear answer on is whether or not you can save projects and stuff? Maybe I just haven't paid enough attention but I don't see any ability to save projects and load them up later etc. This is nearly half the price of the MPC Live, and if it can save things then I'd probably be into it a lot more.
You can save/load projects, and it will also have a pattern chain mode to use in place of not having a song mode.
I pre-ordered a Digitakt, and I'm also going to get an MPC Live. I think they'll make a great pair.

i didn't really mean to get one (wasn't expecting seller to accept my offer since these are brand new)
and i haven't used it a ton yet, but i like it a lot. its p. simple and a breeze to navigate. the sequencer is really where its at.

I went down the elektron hole with my analog 4 after contemplating all kinds of other shit and have zero regrets. If I was into drums much I'd be all over this in a heart beat, especially at the price.
Whole different world to a drumbrute.

Yeah I'll echo that ^^^ by saying I got an Analog Rytm and it works for me a shiiiiiitload better than the Drumbrute. The latter is also very cool, just not that deep.

i think the recorder is limited to 33 seconds at a time. this sampler memory is separate from the storage memory (1gb) and project ram (64mb).
after you sample it saves it in the 1gb storage if u choose to do so, and frees up the sample ram again.
u could load any length samples via the usb also.
the reverb & the delay, and the filter are not bad, but not amazing. theres some tweaking but overall they are fairly basic sounding.
i think the fx on the octatrack were better. but the digitakt is much simpler to get your head around.

Not sure how I missed this. Been watching videos while I should probably be doing actual work. Too bad my GAS boner is throbbing so hard I Might get fired for harassment if I were to stand up.
REcently got a maschine mk2 and an electribe ES2. Don't like the way either of them work. DR. Sherm, have you tried the overbridge software?

have not tried overbridge.
the juicy OB features for the digitakt aren't free (~lame) and aren't available yet either (i think).
not sure it does anything for me, so not terribly interested, but i've heard mixed reviews of OB in general...

OB is cool with the Analog Rytm. Easy to multitrack, recall settings for a project when you open it.

I must of watched that video 5 times already. I have a maschine mk2 right now but I feel like with some time on this some great things would happen. It is very instrument like in the fact that the workflow seems super smooth, especially considering elektrons history.

OK after a week with this thing I realized you need to hold down the step/trigger to enable trig conditions. FUCK!!!!!!!!!! I have been trying SO HARD to turn that trig condition knob...........
with that said, this thing is amazeballs. it's mind blowing what you can do with the trig conditions. turns a 16 bar beat into a whole song. the sounds it comes loaded with are pretty ace, but the magic is in sampling longer stuff. too cool. I originally got it for the drum machine aspect, but it's capable of soooo much more. I'll post some tracks showing off the sample mangling soon™. consider me IMPRESSED

Dude it is beyond good. Super quick workflow to get where you want to go and the sample mangling is incredible. I sampled some late night Evangelical radio the other night through a pocket radio and got some pure gold. Retrigs on vocal samples is quite awesome.

Man I own an Analog 4 and I want one of these to pair with it so bad. A4 can't output the sequencer via MIDI, but the DT can and I'm killing to bring trig conditions to other gear/software.

if I'm not mistaken the octatrack mkI can do this even more extensively, and it kinda is in the same ballpark pricewise
