Exactly this. I've probably owned 15 different HM2's over the last 15 years and a few of the clones. None of the clones ever satisfied. The clips are awesome, the description sounds awesome, and it just seems like the additions to the original circuit are based on usefulness and not just "how can I make this different?"

Based on what Earthbound Audio has done with the Bee Baa and Big Muff circuits (among others), I'm certain the Throat Locust will be pure win. They have a knack for bringing the doom (and 'gaze to a certain extent) in a manner I find consistently appealing.

I can't wait to get my hands on this one (twss)
Also one of the coolest names for a pedal as well.

What did the do w the Bee Baa? I have a Black Goat that slays but I wouldn't mind trying another one, it's a cool corcuit

Not to derail this thread too much...but just wanted to point out that there is a an extreme lack of demo videos for the Pale Mare.

I will remedy that as soon as I get caught up with a few other demos.
I have Pale Mare #001

My current Pale Mare ended up replacing a Lone Wolf Audio Black Goat, primarily due to the enhanced tweakability factor. I'm certain the Throat Locust also has the potential to slay comparable pedals.

Trying hard not to buy one of these right now. We'll see how long that lasts.

I scored a discounted Throat Locust during the 2017 Reverb Black Friday sale extravaganza. This is easily the best HM-2 clone I've tried to date. The enhanced EQ controls, clipping options, and gain taper allow for greater flexibility than the original without losing any of its characteristic grind. I was surprised to discover there's no battery clip, but am still satisfied with my purchase.

I have one since 2 weeks and I love it. For the records I used to have a first BYOC Swede, and then a KMA Machines Wurm.
The Throat Locust is really great! The best HM2 distortion fuzz I had until now, compared to the other 2!
It has all the Low end I love from this units, the parametric mid eq is super powerful: It almost goes into bandpass/notch filter territories. And the Clipping switch is a cool addition.

Apologies if this is too necro, but I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the comparison between the Throat Locust and Wurm. I've been impressed with the clips and features of both. Thanks.

I have the TL and used to have a Wurm.
Soundwise both HM2 clones, so the caracter is very similar.
To me the TL has more options and flexibilities, having a clipping diode switch and the paramentric mid band control. Also the Gain/fuzz control is more usable and has a better range.
The Wurm is cool because you can fine tune the EQ to your liking, but you need a screwdriver and to open the pedal to acess the trimpots.

I have dirt boxes that can cover a lot of its sound, but I have to say I'm tempted to pick up a Throat Locust just because of its name. Throat Locust, FTW.
