I've now seen/heard lots of demos emphasising all the tasteful, musical sounds you can get out of this thing, BUT can it make me instantly sound like The Chariot circa '07? That's really the only feedback type I want.

Are there any similar pedals for way less money? The guitar player in my band is looking for something like this..

It's $180 brand new. Meaning it'll probably be around $150 used in the next few months.
Any cheaper and it'd be pushing towards Behringer quality.
The only comparable pedals are the Boss FB-2 (~$120-$220) and the Fender Runaway Feedback (Ultra rare + $$$$$$$).
Since I always forget:

well, he can get an ebow for $75-100 and get a similar type sound. Though there's a learning curve and a lot less tone/control options.

Yo!
Does the onset also control how quickly the feedback fades away once you release the stomp?
Or does it end as abruptly as on the FB2?
I think I might really like this pedal especially as it might save me those 85 bucks I would likely have spent for an ebow at some point
which makes the FreqOut a total bargain

Pretty sure you can set how quickly it fades. Think I saw that in a demo.

The effect ends immediately, as does real feedback.

I'd really like to hear how this thing sounds with a bassy signal from like a Density Hulk or OC-2

Re: Any Digitech Freqout users out there?
There's a lot of internet hype associating the Freqout with theremins/ebows/sustainers/harmonizers. While it can do all of those things, the algorithm was first and foremost designed to emulate actual feedback. It's monophonic because real feedback is monophonic. It doesn't do literally infinite sustain because it's not a straight synthesis or sample-and-hold effect; it's a signal exciter. If there's no signal to excite, there's no effect. These are some of the reasons why the Freqout does what it does so well.

I am not, but I have done a round at St. Andrews Himalayas.D.o.S. wrote:Obviously you're not a golfer.reckon luck wrote:The effect ends immediately, as does real feedback.
