Oh right, wasn't that the one I tried and kinda liked but didn't see a use for? In that case, the question hath been answered.

So, do you think it does a lot of different stuff, or is it basically slight variations on that octave-ish ringmodesque craziness? The demos out there are made by the wrong people, kinda.

I find it works best on guitar, for synth's it adds great texture though ...I had this all thought out last night just woke up and don't have a clue what I'm saying lol....it's got a sample degrading carrier wave metal pitch sound on lower settings the first octave mode I like to keep maxed out for it adds a dark overdrive sound..the next is octave down which i rarely use but rolled back can get nice down crash unexpected glitch chirps...octave up is my favorite, got one diddley bow riff with that mode..computer up pitch fuzz monster mess sound...then the arpeggio mode is pretty sick on how it reacts to playing...it's one of those pedals you will blow your speakers/roof off soon as engaged...my volume knob does nothing until rolled all the way back...it definitely takes your signal and brings it alive had many times where I was pretty sure I summoned a being from beyond... https://youtu.be/1b1qCTANj5M ....all this talk bout it I'm gonna go test out the internal gain control which should be on outside and main thing that bugs me is having to dish out a separate one spot for it....or a handy 9v battery plug thing.

I tried convincing myself it was a one trick pony so I'd sell it....think the main reason it's boxed up all time Is the no daisy chain deal....I wouldn't buy it though unless it's 200 or less

Aight, thanks for the info, man! It does seem interesting given your description. I see that Fuzz Monster has one on sale. Still pretty steep though, especially considering it's probably not something I'd end up using often. Have the same thing with the Zvex Ringtone as well. Really cool, fun-looking pedals, but the price/how often I'd use them ratio is pretty off.

what alternative filter pedals are there that self-oscillate and have an exp. pedal input?

I basically want the filter on my Sub Phatty but in a pedal/ And LFO with switchable waveforms would be great too...

I've been having great fun using the filter on my gristleizer...different wave forms, can become a sound source /oscillator. .just wish on mine the filter was broader but sweeps hp bp lp pretty quickly with square wave setting and all dials down...allows to change pitch of feedback and control it into notes. ..get a gristle msl.

Koma and dreadbox too.

The koma can kinda make its own waveforms with the sequencer.

Or get a broadcast or lightning wave to go with another pedal...Pretty much unlimited LFO wave forms (and triggered envelopes with the lwave)

Love this line of enquiry. The appeal of the Evil Filter for me was that it looked like one box (and power outlet) could combine end of chain all-obliterating fuzz and a badass filter that could either be used for screwing with the sound of the fuzz, or like a wah (I would love using that after the Bit Commander that's earlier in the chain), and that these could be independently footswitchable. I'd swap out a companion fuzz and a spatial delivery (both of which I adore) and add this and a pre-fuzz reverb.

Any other fuzz/filters that give you all that? (combo fuzz/reverb pedals are another option but options for that seem thin on the ground too)
