I bought a SR-18 recently and it has not been any fun at all so far. I'm not really sure if it's because the machine itself is hard to use or that I should have already learned to play a real drum set before buying it and trying to program it. Seems like I should have. I'm not a good enough musician to always know what time sig I'm playing in.

Yeah, I'm new to drum machines...
I felt like that when I got serious into guitar, I played it like if I were playing drums... it was fucking frustrating, but now I use pedals =]
For some reason I cannot play the drums in any way shape or form. So, I need step sequences to fiddle with or my drums are always off-beat nonsense. Which is baffling because I don't have that problem when I'm playing things with keys or strings :?:

Yeah, you need to hit those pads/heads like donkey kong, you are too tense.

That's probably accurate. But I also like being able to turn on/off particular steps in a sequence.

woot! i am a VERB. WIN!

yeah. i dunno. i like the idea of the ES2, and i've fucked around and made some stuff i REALLY like, but..... just not..... not enjoyable.

DrumBrutes are hellza fun, the sound palate is GOOD, but i'm not good with remembering where knobs where that i liked.

like Rezzles and i wumbled about, a Beatstep Pro, with a good sampler or drum engine (i lurrrrrrv Maschine and Battery) is the bestest for me. most fun, most range, most easiest, most yummers.
