Yeah, exactly! I use the 8-step as an attenuator. Basically if you set the sequence length to 1 (meaning it stays at a single value, which will become the maximum), you can plug an expression or CV into the 8-step and set that input to control "Depth". This basically allows you to use an exp on CV-only pedals (Pretty Years) or dial down the width of the input CV sweep. It's a really handy CV utility tool.

completed works || loosey goosey releases
associated acts:
Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)
I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

No probs - it's also in the manual (something like using the 8-step as an expression-thru) if anything was still unclear.

I've got a Xero (standard) and a Gyroscope on my board.
I use low output pickups.
The Xero is the fattest resonant filter out there. Get a Moog expression pedal and go nuts on it. As has been said, it's raddest with lots of harmonic content, so put it in the middle of a fuzz soundwhich.
The Gyro is great for tempo based stuff - has lots of wave forms, and with the range you can get it more bandpassy and make it like an autowah. If you want. Or you can make it dubby.
Both are good choices.
Latest Xero Dlx has switchable envelope, which is awesome. That will probably get me to trade up one day from the std.
