Yes, those are indeed lovely... OneControl keeps making things that appeal to my practical side. A dad-run company? :D

While we're on the topic of MIDI, who out there has had good experiences with pedalboard controllers? I know OneControl makes the Gecko and the Basilisk. Also was looking at the Source Soleman... it looks pretty fucking sweet.

Anyway, just wondering what other options are out there after my buying and selling the Mastermind PBC because it was too much hassle / too many wires. Thinking that at some point this year I might have a Space, a Nemesis and a Brothers on my board, so I could really use some MIDI presets handily available on a switcher.

Interested to hear how the ES-5 works out for you, Bennroe. I might even consider something like that... I've been wanting to slim down the number of pedals I use, so maybe using a smaller loop switcher would give me less anxiety than the Mastermind. Plus the pedal reordering :yay:

I'll definitely let you know! I'm using it with a fair few pedals because part of the impetus for me was the option to bypass multiple effects with a single stomp. My five loops are planned to be: 1) two dirt pedals; 2) three delay pedals; 3) two reverb pedals; 4) two modulation pedals; and 5) EHX Freeze, so I can turn the effect off without having to double tap.

The OneControl MIDI cables are definitely a more palatable price. Do they only have two positions, though? And are both of those positions with the pins at the side? Either way, they're almost certainly what I need. Thanks for digging them up!

Hooked up onecontrol midi cables just now (see pedalboard thread) - they're awesome! Take up no more space than a standard right angle jack really. They have 2 positions, pins in a rainbow shape or pins in a smile shape. Never seen a sideways midi socket so doubt I'd ever need them that way.
One thing to note - these won't power bus powered midi gear (midi solutions etc). I guess the way they got the cable so thin was to just use 3 strand cable so no power through the other 2 pins. No biggy for me as I use a long neutrik midi lead from my powered Casio midi splitter to feed my midi solutions quadra thru anyway.
Thanks for the recommendation ShaunNecro!

Actually it's worse than that...the One Control ones only have two connections, not three. I don't know what the third connection is for, but they fail the Pin 1/Pin 1 connection on my Behringer cable tester, but they are completely functional.

I have one of the One Control cables, several of the BTPA ones (same as Disaster Area, but I got them from BTPA directly), and several of the Seismic Audio/Audio 2000 ones that you can find on Amazon. The BTPA ones in custom lengths are great and sturdy, but I'll probably do the One Control ones in the future...
