Ship USPS.
Declare it's under 40$.
Ask for a tracking.
Mark it as a gift.

I did it a few times last year, no big,
Yes you can track it past customs. You have to go on the Canada Post website (not the USPS website).

Well, someone else bought it before I had the chance to take the package to the USPS for pricing. But in the future I'll totally make my reverb offerings available to our northerly neighbors.

Don't do that. Its illegal. Don't risk doing illegal shit for a sale.

I ship for work and frequently ship to Canada. If they're willing to pay the cost to ship then it's easy. Just so you know, if you send it usps priority you'll be able to track it once it crosses the border, all the other usps options you'll only be able to track while still in the US. If you mark it as a gift and don't put a stupid low customs value then you'll be fine. Put something fair like $25 if you sold it for like $50+. For hundreds of packages I've probably had 3-5 shipments get flagged in customs over 7 years and all they requested was just to re-send the customs invoice. If the package is 4+ lbs then you need full customs paperwork which is still easy, you just print off 3 copies to include. Hope that helps!

Say it's a gift and ask for a phone number (you'll need to provide one depending on the courier).
And this especially! Putting their phone number on it makes things much easier in case there is any kind of issue, then you don't have to deal with it

As someone who lives in Internationalistan and mostly does international shipping when selling stuff, this. I get an anti-boner whenever I read "only ships CONUS". If you aren't able to fill out a simple form, it's a miracle that you have access to the internet to begin with.

Most store in the USA do this... proguitarshop/prymaxe (but I don't purchase a prymaxe anymore) to name some.

Yeah Analogue Haven asks me every time how much they should declare my packages for. I also always ship things as a gift to ILF members

Depends on what it is. I wouldn't sell my Orange overseas, for example, just because of costs, etc.

I'm overseas in a US Territory so I still get excluded from 90% of my American brethren. Over the years of asking "why can't you ship to me?", I've found it's filling out the customs form that mostly scares people away. :/ When I finally convince others to budge, they can't believe how simple it is and how the shipping cost is exactly the same as shipping around the Cont. US.

Scott @Montreal Assembly is tops to deal with. He always goes out of his way to refund me on shipping costs (unprovoked) if I end up paying more than needed. It's a small thing, but that makes me glad to support people like him directly.

Oh yeah, of course, I was primarily thinking of pedals.

Another one chiming in to say: for the love of Christ ship with USPS, Fedex in particular are the devil and have fucked me out of money that I still absolutely can't understand on multiple occasions. Fedex need to be stopped.
