Maybe yeah.
Sag can be cool for single notes but not if you hit chords or rhythm parts, I want it to punch me in the face, stomach and balls.

I only have the most ballsy and dynamic of amps because I have the exact same requirements for them.
Most amps sound too weak or they don't have enough dynamics.
For me internal force is different from external force, sound in that sense is more an external force that helps to let out the internal force, if that makes any sense.

Not sure, I would classify the LSTR as weak and cushiony sounding in any occasion (high as well as low volume), it's the one BAT pedal out of all I tried that doesn't have that quintessential BAT DNA in my opinion.

I tried the standard Pharaoh settings (left tone full down, right tone full up) as well as others.
It's just the gain on the LSTR, it sounds like a standard crappy Russian EHX Big Muff to me, it doesn't in any way have the immediateness of the Pharaoh.

Yeah, having had an OG Pharoah years ago, and having considered a LSTR at various times, I've sort of felt the same as Tristan
LSTR just sounds like a Muff to me on demos, but the Pharoah has it's own vibe. I dunno, I mean it's cold here and I've spent a lot of time indoors, I may just be losing my mind.

Right, so let the debate roll on.
I own an LSTR and have owned two standard BMPs, and I play(ed) them through the clean channel on a Fender SCX2. The LSTR goes far beyond a standard Muff. It has more gain, more low end, and you can dial mids in or out to your heart's content so you aren't stuck with that standard scooped, nasal BMP tone. But I can see where you might want the Pharaoh for its versatility, especially with the Ge/Si/none option for the clipping diodes. I'll probably cave and buy one eventually, but I think the LSTR is a keeper and should not be underestimated.O Drones wrote:Yeah, having had an OG Pharoah years ago, and having considered a LSTR at various times, I've sort of felt the same as TristanLSTR just sounds like a Muff to me on demos, but the Pharoah has it's own vibe. Been with Mark for a very long time and I have to say, the pedal that blew me away the most was my Witch Burner. Its not as "huge" as a Pharaoh but its got all of the gain and volume on tap in a much more presentable and wrangled package. Its a treble boost and meant to be stacked with other distortions (loosely based on a TS9, I THINK) so its really tight comparatively but if you want a good pedal for a driven amp, I can't think of a better one. It will drive the shit out of it.

Honestly, the pharaoh is the best post dirt fuzz I've ever used. It's kinda hard for me to use it now without running a rat or OD before it unless I'm just dping the doom thingvidret wrote: a pharaoh/witch burner dual pedal feels like one of the best combos you can get out of black arts if you're going for range of sounds with simplicity.
