I got my download of Not the Actual Events this morning. After a first listen, I enjoyed most of the tracks. Seemed like a step back towards older NIN (a lot more harsh and raw compared to Hesitation Marks). Need to have another listen to really decide, though, as I listened pre-coffee and may not have been totally awake....

Also is there a digital copy with Deviations? I didn't order it because my interpretation of their statement was that there was no digital. Edit: nevermind, just saw the price and at $80, I'm still out

I got the download link this morning but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. Sooooon.

Is the sound of Actual Events comparable to The Slip?

To be totally honest, I didn't spend enough time with the Slip to accurately answer that question

Doom Lou Reed.

Based on that song, definitely doesn't sound like the Slip. Which I honestly feel is a great record in the catalog, but I know that's not a very strong opinion among the NIN fan base. May be because I started with With Teeth which is probably the most similar i.e. a bunch of rock songs without a ton embellishment. Anyways, yeah. Listen to it
We’ve encountered an error in the high-resolution files for The
Fragile: Deviations 1 and we’ve delayed the release of the
digital files for a day. We strive for excellence and we
appreciate your understanding - it will be worth it.

I'm hearing neither "unfriendly' nor "impenetrable" from this ep. :idk:
I think I've always expected something from NIN that just isn't what NIN actually is.

Yeah. I like some of the textures, but mostly what I am hearing is "boring" and "badly mixed vocals." :grumpy:

So curiosity got the best of me.

Someone put a fake version on youtube (the first track is Merzbow's Pulse Demon and the second track is an Anal Cunt song).

I love it. What I've heard of the real album sounds like he's been listening to lots of Godflesh, which is endorsable, but... I'd rather listen to Godflesh?

I love the textures, hate the loureed spoken vocals this time around; they are too dry, too high in the mix.

I liked the new EP. Thought it was a good step backwards into Downward Spiral noisiness.

Deviations 1 does come with a digital download. I'd recommend FLAC cause I got wav and it's friggin 5 GB.
