Thru various responses I'm realizing that I'm looking for something I guess different from a bypass looper -
Ultimately what I want is kinda a series of signal splitters with volume knobs on the fronts of half of em, with the rest running thru each other...kinda.

Like, I want the dirt to be able to go into the mod section and into the delay section, but also be able to just have the dirt go into the delay section, but like with a fader to adjust the amount of dirt/modulation. So like ideally, if all three sections are faded down, a clean signal would come through.

Yeah?
Yeah, you don't need a splitter for that really. Three of the eatyourguitar 1 knob blenders in series would be able to do that for you. Here's a basic illustration of how that would work. The farther up your fader goes, the more of the FX signal you will get.

Code: Select all

|--DLY-DRT-MOD--|
| |
| | | | |
| | | | | -- CLEAN SIGNAL
| | | | |
| ‾‾‾ ‾‾‾ ‾‾‾ |
|---------------|

|--DLY-DRT-MOD--|
| ___ |
| | | | |
| | | | | -- DELAY SIGNAL
| | | | |
| ‾ ‾‾‾ ‾‾‾ |
|---------------|

|--DLY-DRT-MOD--|
| ___ ___ |
| | | | |
| | | | | -- DIRT INTO DELAY
| | | | |
| ‾‾‾ |
|---------------|

|--DLY-DRT-MOD--|
| ___ ___ ___ |
| | | | |
| | | | | -- ALL FX IN
| | | | |
| |
|---------------|
I could build you one of these if you'd like.

I don't think so, depends what you mean by tails. the problem is that the splitter is always on and there is no send kill. always tails but no way to cut the input of the delay. if the source audio is being cut anyway by a performer then this is already taken care of.

you can do it my way with adding a passive volume knob before the send jack on each blender. this addition of a 100K pot will cost you $1, has no extra parts or power connection.

Yeah?
the more comprehensive way to do this shit is just have a matrix mixer connecting every possible output to every possible input. a dedicated volume knob for each path. and maybe some y splitter cables to listen to the matrix on all the inputs or alternatively listen to all the outputs. you can also go bigger and use parts of the matrix for mixer sends.

repeater is out of stock but you can email him.

Here's my solution for what you're trying to do. You would be able to tailor a perfect mix of clean, distorted, and modulated signal, and you will have trails as well.

Seems cool - are each of those knobs supposed to be blender from eatyrguitar?

Also could you like explain the blender a smidge to me? Just got back from a show and realized I desperately need a mix knob on my phaser - would a blend knob do that kinda thing?

The first and second knobs could just be passive blend pots, while the final knob could just be a passive volume pot – so it could be done entirely with passive components, just knobs and jacks.

That said, you're splitting your signal several times and doing a bunch of mixing in the passive realm. To avoid your tone dying, it'd be best to keep things buffered. Using eatyrguitar's blenders for the first two knobs would keep things sounding good, as would sticking small buffers at the split and mix points.

Yeah basically what he said. There are clean blend schematics around that use a MOSFET buffer. That is a bare bones aproach. I buffer everything in and out. That way I have predictable impedance driving a blend knob on both sides. The value of the blend pot was selected to not lose brightness. after tomorrow my PCB sales will stop but there is an exclusive distributor on Etsy coming soon. Lots of new modular synth PCB kits coming to the store. I will update my site with a link to Etsy soon.
