Nice one! Liking this. ASSPhIXXXEATATESHUN by White Mice is also awesome, but not digging the sl-cisco vids, it's good music just not what i'm craving right now.

Loving this thread! Still working my way through all the suggestions.

LG why the sadness? Am I missing something?

Nah, haha. Just memories. Nothing worth talking about.

Glad voerking showed up.

Pehrspace was another venue out here in LA that focused on that stuff. Again, not an endorsement, just information. I did some construction work there. It just closed.

Il Corral's webpage is down now, but there is a wikipedia. In 2000s of the noise rock article on wikipedia, a lot of the bands I remember (not particularly for being noise rock...but for being kinda no wave indie) are mentioned.

Dead Food may be of interest: https://deadfood.bandcamp.com/album/anger-meats

Thanks for that Chankgeez. Didn't know about that earlier stuff. USAISAMONSTER was probably my favorite outta that time (don't know if they really qualify either...on some level I guess). Really nice dudes too. They played the studio building and hung/out kicked it for a while after.

The USA is a monster are great! Lots of catalog to explore there too. That off mas 00 track was awesome, gonna make my way through the Gaze series too. Dead food, white suns also awesome. Didn't expect to get this much good stuff from a music request thread. There's stuff from page 1 I still haven't got round to listening to yet either!

I never know what genres are what either really, but tend to just use them as attempts to signify what I like or want to hear. I also find my idea of what things like shoegaze or 'experimental' are tend to be very different to others...... but hey it worked a treat for this thread. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. LG I will enjoy trawling the labels/venues and wiki you suggested thanks for those too.

I'm hoping the current political climate and oversaturation of 'same old shit' music will lend rise to more noise and eclectic musical hybrids in London again soon. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough but the real grassroots scenes and movements seem to have all but peetered out.....

Pill is great. Some of it is a little poppier, some of it is super noisy. But that Sax is always sexy.

Fun fact, when I saw Pill, one of the members had a PiL shirt on.

Oh yes, fucking hell, yes. My band played with them a few years ago, they blew the roof off the club. I was so sad when they broke up.

I remember seeing/hearing them the first time. Ended randomly up at the gig. They blew my mind and eardrums!

Btw: Drummer and guitarist have a new band, Golden Oriole. I think they're touring Europe right now.

I dunno, but good add. I'm terrible at genres too haha.

Black Dice was pretty big back then too.

Captain Ahab was big in that scene in LA... :idk:

Some fringy, maybe of interest bands:
Melt Banana, Boredoms (the last two...totally obvious haha but not mentioned), Alice Donut, Nots, The Cravats, Ultra Bide, Phantomshasher (Plotkin in general).

Deathbomb Arc was another label that was big into that stuff.

London is in a weird spot for music from what my friend tells me...most of his gigs are out of the UK at the moment. Everytime I see him he tells me about another important club closure and a bit of a DIY/punk venue safe space fight (security laws and stuff). I dunno if he is just out of touch with the kids or things are really that tame right now. Music is better when London (well, the entire UK) is involved...let's hope stuff starts happening! (everything I've heard lately out of there "underground" is kind of a nostalgia trip style thing...but that could just be the ocean and age haha...I'm aged out of California scenes).

Re: The Gaze....lots of hipster/scenster awkward talking...fast forward haha. Sorry about that...should have came with a warning.

Thanks for the trip...I hadnt thought about a lot of these bands in a long time.
