Instead of replacing a couple dirt pedals every time I buy another amp or guitar (which happens more than I can justify), I was thinking of maybe getting an eq to tune my dirt pedals according to the rest of my gear instead
YES!
I've been doing that with the Source Audio EQ and it works really great, it's not as cheaper as an MXR or Boss but is not as noisy as these 2, you can have 4 presets and it looks fucking hot.
Yeah I noticed the SA EQ too. Small, affordable and 4 presets...If the MXR turns me on to the concept of eq's, I might just have to upgrade and get the Source Audio EQ

It has quite a powerful filter and it can even be a pretty awesome stand alone drive.
I also have the EQD Crimson Drive that I could send your way if you'd like to try it, it's quite fuzzy actually.
I was actually looking for an MF Drive when the PDF-1 crossed my path. Got the PDF-1 cause I couldn't find a decent deal for an MF Drive. From what I heard in clips, the drive is indeed more up my alley than whan I got from the PDF-1
I sorta already went overboard on peds lately though, neither the Moog or your Crimson Drive will me mine any time soon
Thanks for the offer though, I'll have to make do with the other stuff I blew my money on the last couple weeks/months
I've never used an EQ except on amps. The pedal I've used the most in conjuction with fuzzes and overdrives before/after is the Basic Audio Futureman, and I'll be damned is that is not one of the most useful ones. Tried it on just about everything and it can shape the tonez however you want, even without clipping if you keep the input lower, but still making it all sound a bit woody.
Other one I have is a DOD BiFet preamp clone, which also has an awesome tone knob, just one, but I love the boost/cut travel from low lows to heady highs. Could do a lot with that, though I use it before dirt (it also has a built in fuzz).
In conclusion, don't buy an EQ that isn't attached to some dirt?
