It is important to remember that most small pedal builders are probably just nerds with electronics skills who enjoy making shit. Then, they discovered that they could make some cash building pedals so they started a pedal "company". As is usually the case with nerds, they have no people skills. On top of that, these new entrepreneurs have no business training to run their business properly. As a result, this shit happens.

Point: Jwar.
A purchase transfers ownership, and allows the buyer to sell the item whenever, wherever, and for whatever price they wish. If a seller desires right of first refusal or any form of resale control, then it must be in the terms of sale.
Point: D.o.S.
A seller can rant whenever, wherever, and for whatever reason refuse service and red flag within the confines of the law. Doesn’t always mean that it’s a good idea since word gets around, like right now.
jwar wrote:well I mean how do you guys honestly feel? Would you buy from someone that belittles his customers?
No, I wouldn’t. I try to vote with my wallet and not support assholes. It's easier when there are great builders who are also great people, but still challenging since:

Seems like his time would be better spent getting pedals out the door than venting online.

But didn't he goop the pedal? I think he is somewhat responsible

No, a climate of exclusivity created by forum hype around limited runs and availability is to blame for both the butthurt and the scalping.
This place is as guilty of that as any other.
I think DoS nailed it earlier, though. He has every right to be pissed, but....
The wolf is loose.

I used to facebook follow this real small pedal builder. I'm not even gonna name him because he was mostly a nice guy in my dealings with him. Of no interest to ilf anyway since mostly his work was wahs and tube screamers. But I followed him because he only had a few hundred followers and I wanted to give him likes and improve whatever metrics he had after I bought something from him. But then his facebook feed started getting real passive aggressive about bad dealings with customers, so I peaced.
Otoh, there was that one pedal builder a week or so ago who unloaded on that weirdo customer who kept wanting a box and that was obviously fucking righteous and hilarious.
Obvious this design is pretty generic, but it reminds me so much of that one Fuzzrocious pedal.

BAT Mark's justice is righteous.

there is something vulgar about feeling entitled to niceness because you pay for someones stuff. The whole "the customer is always right" rubs me the wrong way. I understand that's essentially how a market economy is designed to work, that businesses are price takers and whatnot, But contracts that assume that a builder would have his work used in anyway a customer pleases is not something I like. Obviously, there are different levels of this. Maybe I don't think that being mad at a person selling a pedal and using whatever arguments are available to get as much as possible is really that justified.

Agreed that asshole deserved it and he's a piece of trolling shit that has been fucking up my Youtube account along with several other for calling him out on being a bitch for bitching about a fucking box. So fuck that motherfucker. Plus Mark only came forward after the guy bashed the shit out of him, totally different.
This guy does make good pedals and I wasn't even going to name the company (LOL DOS). I was trying to keep it vague and hypothetical because there's already kind of a shit storm on TB and hopefully he sees it and says "man maybe I shouldn't talk so much shit".
I'd buy his stuff in a heart beat but I can't if he's going to be an ass to deal with if I had a warranty issue. Chances are though I could fix it if I needed to or have it fixed. I had a Hail Satan Deluxe and it was HUGE sounding, and the parts all looked like normal shit and nothing I couldn't replace or have replaced.
I just don't think it's a good idea to bitch like that especially if you're in a sink or swim kind of situation with your business, which I have a feeling may be the case. To each their own though! It is totally his right to do what he sees fit.

This is actually a smart analysis and probably really close to the truth.

I'm talking about Buffer on/off. It's on the foot-facing panel as "Almost Always Better" (buffer on) and "Almost Always Worse" (buffer off).

A pretty good summary of what a buffer does.
