2000XL. I swear by it. It's way easy to navigate....and has just enough features, but not too many....and the pads are on the right hand side instead of the left (key for me). I have two of them...one is a backup for when I go out on the road.
yeah i want one. but i only want to pay like $400-450. i saw one for around that price but it had a busted Zip Drive.
Thanx for all the drum machine love! I'm really looking in the sub-$100 range, something cheap and nasty. I've got a lot of pawn shop crawling to do, just wanted to know what to keep an eye out for.
boss had a little dinky guy, the DR220, that came in two versions - the E had electronic sounds and the A had acoustic sounds, otherwise they were identical in layout and sequencing. i LOVE the sound of those little guys. quite a nice alternative to other "classics" as well.
for bigger and badder, but still cheap, you can't go wrong with an R5. sounds huge. beats the pants off an SR16 (i've had both).

It's fucked up that they sell for only about $500-600 dollars now. When I first bought mine in 2002, I paid $1500 for a maxed out one, used.
yeah i know right? but i think that has more to do w/ supply & people upgrading & stuff & using computers so there is more on the market. there is story on YOUTUBE, where Waajeed was talking about how he asked Dilla for his older, unused MPC & Dilla just gave it to him.

I want an MPC baaaad.
i still want an MPC 2000XL or a Roland MV-8000. either one would be fine for me.
anyway. those are SAMPLING drum-machines. i have a Casio RZ-1 & an Ensoniq SQ-1. both Autechre & Prince Paul have the Casio RZ-1 in their set-ups, although i doubt they use them much. i got it fo cheep, like a hundo on ebay. really cheesy soundz.
i would like an Alesis SR-18 & a Korg Electribe EM-1. & i think i would be str8.
