How about a worse Fender at twice the price? That's what everyone wants from Gibson, right? RIGHT?!

I kinda like that Gibson is trying something new. Maybe in the future they will be the signature guitar of a genre that we won't understand

Y'all know about the 7-string SG they did, right?

Gibsons trigger me.
You look through them and just see all the little nit picky cost cutting measures piled on top of each other while still being more expensive than comparable guitars, and posses a well earned (imo) 'gibson quality control is shit' reputation. I think they are doing a great job of ruining any lure that "made in USA" has left.
I guess this doesn't really apply to this one since it's $500 but..ugh. Looks like a bottom of the barrel 90s epi.

Reverse that headstock and lose the pick guard, and it may have a fighting chance. I had one of those 70's Tribute Firebird Studios, and that thing ripped.

Hideous. It's like the guitar version of a failed self-suck.

I really don't see what the big problem is with this? It's certainly not perfect, but I appreciate they're trying something new, and this is a US made gibson for $500 in a color that isn't black, red, weird brown. That's pretty neat. They have similar style top-routed SG/LP models too at the $600-700 price points.
And, it looks pretty great for mods. Like, personally, I would slap in some chrome covered pickups, and throw a black guard on there. I think it'd be sexy, granted in kind of a cringeworthy way, but a cool/weird guitar.
Again, it's not really my style either, and I'd much rather have a TOM, but so it goes. It has a gloss finish and is MIA for $500. Not bad at all. I'd rather have a standard non-reverse firebird (which you can get right now for $1300 or so). But, the fact that this is so cheap and is routed for full sized humbuckers is pretty cool.

how are pearloid pickguards still a thing?
at least it doesn't look as bad as those stripped down satin les pauls that look like whoever was finishing them got bored and stopped halfway through.

Pearloid CAN work, and matte/satin finishes can be amazing.
Some of us like a worn and subtle look.
Not all of us want to play an instrument that looks like its original intent was to be a dildo for Liza Minnelli.

Non-reversed fire/thunderbirds are rubbish anyway, this just adds a bit of salt to the already existing wound

Pearloid isn't for everyone, but I still like it. The sheer amount of pearloid on this thing is its one redeeming quality, imo.

I do. Which one do I need to buy for that?

Route it for a JM trem, slap a maple neck on it, ditch the pearloid for tort and change out those knobs and I'd play the hell out of that ugly wretch
