The best flanger in the world is the SubDecay Starlight V2.
I tried a few before... and none has worked for me.

The Mooer E-lady can easily cover the same textural territory as the EHX DEM, though Mooer quality control has been suspect at times and a different option would be advisable for less conventional flanging. If memory serves me correctly, the Digitech Turbo Flange wasn't too terrible for digitally-rendered oddball burbles, swirls, and swooshes. The Subdecay Starlight looks like what I was hoping the Turbo Flange would be.

Even if it isn't clearly your spirit flanger, the Mooer E Lady or cheaper Donner Jet Convolution (I'm pretty sure the same exact pedal) are ridiculously dead on to the original non-Deluxe Electric Mistress, the flanger for Gilmour, Andy Summers, Rush, et al. A bunch of people like the little things more than the discontinued Hartman clone. It's almost too cheap not to get one.

But, yeah, really just figure out what sounds you respond to on albums and find out if those flangers do it for you in person.

Oh, and if you have an old school rack delay with modulation that can do short times, you already have a flanger. Best of these let you chose between positive feedback (t.c. SCF) and negative (most everything else). If the LFO is flexible enough to give you several waveform shapes, all the better. Really fun laboratory to discover what flavors you like.

As much I like hearing other people play with Electric Misstressesssssssssssssssssssssss, I can't really get as much out of 'em as I want.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: any 4 knob flanger from the Eighties. :D

… or any more modern flanger that remotely resembles a 4 knob flanger from the Eighties. :snax:

Best and most versatile flanger. :idk:

 You're just saying that because that's what the Starlight V2 is (with the added bonus of also having control of the wave shape).

Yep! It's MXR (old box) like. :hello:
And those wave shape are very usable! :animal:

I do too.
And the Alexander seems cool too (for a digital one).

Likewise, as much as I love John Mcgeoch on those Siouxsie records, the MXR isn't really my flavor. Listen then verify in person.

Whoops I bought a Tunnelworm.

I figure I'm not going to really know what I connect with until I start trying some new shit, and one thing I've never tried is a good through zero flanger. If I don't like it I'll flip it and get an FX72 or FX75B (interestingly these have different delay ranges, 1-12ms for the FX72 and 0.5-6ms for the FX75B).

Not sure Tunnelworm's gonna be your forever flange. :idk:

It's definitely good to try things though. :snax:

I'm an idiot by the way I meant to write 75B. Silver with blue.

For me, it's all about the MF-108.
