Dream pop & shoegaze bands are prone to this (I think) due to the bread & butter drumming.
A lot of it is moody, rainy day music. Not a good showing for shuffles. Now if you're anything like me and prone to all manner of catchy riffs, harmelodies, basslines getting stuck in your head...

Hearing the droning riff & feedback in this song still makes my heart swell & ears tingle
(sounds much better than allowed by YT audio from 8 years ago. Check dat vinyl ep, flac etc)

Oh, I like dream-pop and shoegaze. I just don't like how Slowdive does it.

Souvlaki is perfect, no getting around that. How anyone into spacing out doesn't like it is beyond me. Lack of good hash/weed/acid, most likely.

But... unless Rachel Goswell and Neil Halstead get together again and break up right before this album, I don't see how this can be the same (type of) record.
I want them to have it good as, but also make something kinda goth and "audio ketamine", like SR said.
