I think, as a gesture of good will, the gays just need to give everyone the go ahead to resume use of the word faggot. Its too culturally significant to the east coast.

Look, I don't give a shit about any of this because I'm not part of any scene anymore and I never see live music. I judge a band by their records, period. As I get older everything is falling away? And all I know is that "Dream House" is a fucking incredible song. Like, seriously incredible. I have a movie that plays to it in my head as I listen to it. The first four minutes of the song involve a young woman being diagnosed with terminal cancer and deciding to do this thing she's always wanted to, to go to Tonga, in the South Pacific, and go swimming with humpback whales. So she books the flight, there's an airport montage. And at first she doesn't see them; for the first few days on the water, on whales. She feels stupid. The quiet clean interlude in the middle, she slips into the water and I see her hovering there in the indigo, between rays of sun. And she turns around and that's when the fucking riff kicks in again, the quiet/loud thing. She sees the whales, mother and calf, and they are enormous, breathtaking, something from another world. And she looks into the whale's eye and has this major connection, theory-of-mind moment, a recognition of herself in this other being. And she feels tiny and insignificant, she knows she never mattered anyway, and she is at peace. And ready to die. How the fuck could a bad song invoke those things in a person? I have cried to that song. Twice. So Deafheaven are A-OK in my books.

Also, Lamb of God sucks, and Anthrax sucks so bad as to be not even on my radar. Literally on my list of worst bands ever. All thrash metal sucks, actually. Fuckin' old dad rock.

The hype is still beyond me.

That's okay, I mean, while I stand by it 100%, obviously that paragraph was just me being weird and emo.
If you makes you feel better, here's something I find ridiculously fucking annoying about Deafheaven: watching the guy's facial expressions.

Anthrax fucking rules.
Inconsistent as shit, but still.
Joey Belladonna is still rocking the same hairdo. That's

right there.
All I'm saying in this thread is with the shit Deafhaven has pulled (regardless of meaningless genre catfighting) they deserved some heckling. I'm just kinda surprised it came from the kind of dudes who would go to a Lamb of God concert

As a rule I dont read posts or articles that begin with "i really dont care about blah blah blah" because usually what that means is "my point of view has little to do with or completely disregards the issues that are at hand"

Contrived personal responses render everything you said exclusive to you and no one else. How can a bad song invoke those feelings? Ever heard of Jandek? Bad/good is the centre of the whole "wah wah subjective" argument and saying that Dream House is an objectively good song because it made
you feel something seems a bit bubble-world-ish. It's great that music makes you feel things but it has pretty much no relevance to anything else.
Re: actual topic: how would you expect anything less than a bunch of Lamb of God fans? Is this the price you pay for saying Metallica are one of your influences with no hint of irony?
