Agreed. Didn't really get that vibe from your first post, but this seems like a nice solution to that problem.

Anyone interested should google the Flashbulb's video where he discusses the circuit - something about it being locked to keys (ie you cant add notes outside of the key you pick or something) which would make it borderline useless for experimental stuff.

I'd post it but I'm on my phone sorry!

Well, while I totally agree with his point -- from what I've seen with the Circuit you can set it to chromatic and play whatever you want. I could be wrong?

Is that video since the new firmware, also? Bc they updated a LOT of the functionality in like, the last week. I'd be shocked, frankly, if it didn't have a chromatic mode, but they do seem willing to listen to consumer requests, at least a little.

I've no hands on experience with the unit, just randomly came across that video a couple of weeks a go. I would not be surprised if the issue was fixed with the new firmware!

I'm thinking about picking one up at the end of the month. We've been looking to replace our midi drum situation but then last week my co-conspirator started diving into synth patches and we were talking about some samples. With no experience playing synth, being able to pick a scale and key and just play is pretty appealing. It seems like theyre the same price all over, is there a cheaper but reputable spot to buy one? Should I call sweetwater and haggle?

what do u want to know?

its a fun piece. the updates they have implemented are great. the samples really open it up. the synths are cool, even if sometimes the macro knobs are frustrating/set to weird things. i think if u spent the time to roll your own synth patches with the editor then u'd really be cooking. theres a ton of presets that i could live w/o. theres some gems in there tho.
the sequencer is cool too. some fun tricks to mess around w/ it. fun to manipulate and easy enough to use/edit.

its kinda like a super simple standalone version of push which is why i got mine. i use it to play/seq other synths too via midi w/ the nice grid interface. esp. like rack or desktop style synths.
i have more fun with it when its a piece tot he puzzle rather than trying to make whole tracks on it.

they seem to be super receptive to user feedback. i pointed out to them a side chain bug that they fixed really quickly.

This is good info :joy:

One question -- since the synth parts are poly: if you have a note with a long release on step one and that's it, when it loops back around will it retrig the note (cutting the tail) or play over top?

each synth patch (patch 1-64 not part 1/2) can be set to mono/poly, which can be changed in the editor.
so i think it depends on what the synth patch is set to.

i tried to make my own editor in iPad lemur awhile back so i could edit the patches more freely but if u look up the midi params guide it is SUPER thick. lol got way too confusing/consuming for me.

a cool trick is to not run the sequencer but play the sequencer steps by hand. like for example, you can place different chords on each step, then play the step pads and u got a cool chord memory box type shit to play w/!

also if u wanna hang and try it out for yourself you're more than welcome
