Rad guitar! I get confused by 7-strings, so I prefer baritones, but I think is one of the coolest 7-strings out there.
I like that the reason Stephen Carpenters sig-guitars have the pickups so close is just because he thought it looked cool. If I remember correctly he only use the bridge pickup, he talks about in his "rig-talk"-video.

He uses the middle to dial back the attack. It sits lower from the string and definitely doesnt have 100% of the bite that the bridge pickup gets.
