The big thing is it's not just "here's a cab" - you have options as well (including "custom" settings, like 8x15 openback oddity) and mic type/distance, etc).
It was the first hardware modeler that passed my amp Turing test - I have a half stack to my left and use it for recording or just general practice at times.
One night after getting it, I reached over to check SPL on the 4x12 even though I was wearing cans (admittedly good ones), and realized that it wasn't on.

I considered it but I don't use PT so a lot of the allure just wasn't there.
