Original HM-2 was dead quiet (especially when off). It was one of the things that attracted me to it.

Again, not using it onchainsaw settings.

Also, I use modelers etc all the time, mine have zero issue with even the old Boss buffers.

Even at the extremes, I think, though mine doesn't really stay there. Series diodes are part of its every-which-way clipping scheme, and that works a bit like a noise gate--you need enough signal to get over the threshold so it'll pass.

HM-2s still come up cheap on CL often enough if you're patient.

I have two unused Dunwich HM 2 pcbs. Too bad I'm too lazy/stupid to build them. :)

I just tried Lone Wolf Audio's vision of the same concept, and it was decidedly not for me. The internal EQ trimmers were useful, but the output level was fixed, It sounded like mucky-clipped feedbacky poo as a standalone distortion, and only worked as a chainsaw boost. It would have probably been more compatible with my rig if the single knob controlled the output level instead of gain or if I was using a real amp. I still like my BYOC The Swede, though, which is much easier to fine tune with my setup.

Haha. I've got huge plans for your Devi box. I don't think you're ready. Hell, I don't think I am even ready.

Ive played a few clones and I still prefer the original MIJ or MIT ones over all the boutiques.

When in search of a stereo, solid state amplification option that takes pedals well, I decided upon one of these:

It has been a while since I owned a GL-100, and I recall one of the distortion modes essentially being an HM-2 with more EQ sculpting options. Now I just need to determine what cheap stereo power amp and stereo 2X12 cabinet will best complement it.

The #4 gain channel is a HM2 on crack (more gain, more EQ options)

Recommended a GL-100 early on in this thread (and in others).

Been the heart of my rack rig for almost 20 years now!
