This seems to tick most boxes. They pop up in B/S/T every once in a while. Plus it does a buncha more stuff so you could justify spending a little more anyways

NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE
you can't push me further into GAS, that's unfair.

It sounded kinda boring and too clean to me...but I ain't into all the tracking. It does what it does I guess. It is pretty special for that.
Yeah, I think when people fuck with the very nature of ring modulation, they're gonna have to accept some compromises.
Yes that' just because i need to use it only for a particular purpose, so i don't need it to be the most tweakable ring mod on earth as long as it remains "stable" and respects the signal i run into it (as long as a ring mod can respect a signal).

I'm not too knowledgeable on ring mods, but the one in bitquest fucking rules.. no loss of volume or tone either. it can actually boost with the fuzz. top jacks, etc.

I just came by to say I hate ring mods.
Ok. I'll leave now.

that's why they deserve to be punished and subjugated to the dark side.

Will definitely not disappoint:
- BitQuest
-Randy's Revenge
I've been on a flipping spree of late but those two are keepers.
But let me throw a bit of an unorthodox option at you:
The new Dwarfcraft Twin Stags. Double trem, one of which does ring mod. Tons of control options via separate CV and exp. inputs (each tremolo has both on separate jacks), and the slower lfo is able to modulate the faster one. Meaning a modulating ring modulation. It is mesmerizing at times. It won't give you the same level of ring mod control as the other two, but it is far more versatile.
I'll be putting out a demo for it this weekend.

I thought the ring mod on the BitQuest was fair enough. It'll do in a pinch, but not as good as a stand alone ring mod.
I guess it all depends on how often you use ring mod.
Well, very relevant info regarding this would probably be that a) It was my first and only ring mod b) I never use ring mod c) I seriously can't use ring mod

A trem doesn't equal a ring Modulator. They can do similar things, sure. But they are not the same. A trem is AM but not balanced modulation.
If we are going outside ring modulation, try the holowan thermal wave or the audioslime Hysteresis. Neither are ring mods. Jen/ gretsch playboy HF modulator is another one
Randy's Revenge has a level of compression and something that evens out the sound to me. It has a wide range and a lot of options, but it just doesn't cut like a diode ring Modulator or even other IC based balanced modulators.
If you want a cheap ring mod that can modulate the carrier, the Ringworm is pretty good.
If I was going multifx for ring mod, I would probably go Yamaha magic stomp.
Carlin ring mod is cool if you want to input your own carrier (defaults to itself I believe).
My favorites:
- 1. Diode ring
2. LAL SPK v1
3. Moog MF102
4. Maestro/univox/melos ring mod
5. Blue ringer v2
6. Robotum custom
7. Frequency analyzer or Randy's revenge

Ring Thing by EHX has a crazy range of sounds, it does ring mod and pitch shift/harmony stuff. On the bigger side but it's deep and has presets.

Frequency Analyzer is the best sounding ring mod IMO. It has the low-filter switch which gives you an insane amount of low-end if you want that, it has no lag, it has blend. The only downside to it is that crazy power supply that pretty much requires you to use the wall wart.

Randy's the most useful/musical/interesting one I've come across. I don't own one but damn sure need to get on that shit.
I do, however, have the Moogerfooger (I think it's fine, like the Randy better) and the BitQuest. I think the BQ is a particularly solid option due to its size, top jacks and multitude of other features, even if it isn't QUITE as interesting as the Randy.

The Wilson Mycelium
It's based off the ring mod in the Snarling Dogs Mold Spore wah, which itself is based off of the Craig Anderton ring mod.
It's hateful, not as near as bell like as the Moog or Randy's Revenge, but it's definitely going to turn a few heads when you step on it.
