Anything can get expensive if you use enough of it!

For real, though, the guitar sounds on that album are amazing. To get those sounds, you'll need to play around with some different pedals to see what sounds right with your guitar and amp. And you'll need to play loud.

Yeah if you want the buzzy, sustained feedback play around with where you stand & the gain levels. You can make most any fuzz feedback like that when you figure out your room acoustics with your setup. Just turn both Drive/Fuzz & Volume/Output pots near fully-open settings and use guitar volume knob to control

^what rustywire said. Also, parametric EQ is your friend when it comes to controlled feedback.

Yep. It doesn't cop the sound in the recording but it's an awesome and very much correct suggestion.SonicReducer wrote:Really?? Isn't that a reverb pedal?doommeow wrote:Rm-1nSonicReducer wrote: from grinding droning chords to controlled buzzy feedback,

I think the answer here is Volume and location more than anything (saw that somewhere above)
I used to get these sounds with a peavey VT and an extension cab and I would just lay on the floor with an old Kay single pickup full hollow
and you could get individual strings to feedback
not much pedal sorcery, just crank and yank

The Fubär gets every flavor of oscillation in the book, which I then use a DOD Boneshaker to shape. It's not a bad combo.
I can probably make a demo of this sometime today, if you want me to.

I think it's better classified as a spacey dirt box, but doesn't matter. Might not match the exact tonality of the OP, but will certainly get you into the same sort of ballpark. And will do so regardless of amp/stage volume, cab placement etc - all that is fun voodoo, but doesn't work for everyone in every situation.goroth wrote:Yep. Yea for sure its a reverb pedal but coupled with an amazing fuzz/overdrives and just sounds amazing.doommeow wrote:I think it's better classified as a spacey dirt box, but doesn't matter. I guess this is related. Is the Cornish fuzz likely what Reed is using on this track:

Because that distortion/feedback is just perfect.

I actually think you could get a similar tone with a few fuzzhugger pedals. Algal Bloom on certain settings has the "Like a Possum" vibe to it.

Re: Most similar sounding pedal to a Cornish NG-2 or NG3
Thanks for the tips, really appreciate it! Here is a live example of the awesome, sculpted drone tones Lou got with his Cornishes. Reed loved them because they had a classy smooth tone, mind you Reed was a pedal/fuzz junky well before this website and the plethora of boutique producers we have today! Who knows if he was still alove he'd probably be using Fuzzhuggers or Thorpys!
