I can't afford perfection right now so I'm going to build it myself. To me that means Musicman pickups in a cheap Squier Jazz. Want the MM sound, want the classic looks & easy feel. Just have to figure out how to cut some weight.

I got a TVL JM about 2 months ago thats pretty good completely stock. I'm usually really into tinkering with guitars and swapping things with them but I haven't noticed any thing on it I'd like to experiment with/upgrade.

I've got a early 80s tokai telecaster that will be with me until the day I die. It was blond but has faded to a kind of gold colour that really can't be photographed. I've owned it for 7 years and not really looked at or played another guitar that I liked more since.
Also I've had my mij squier jazz bass since the early 90s. I often think about selling it or modding then I pick it up and it's prefect.

Nope. The only guitar I have I haven't changed in some way is my LP Special P90, and even that will eventually get PIO's, and '50s correct 500K/250K volume/tone pots. Some took longer than others. I didn't change a thing on my '71 Les Paul Std. for decades, then swapped pups and electronics when I started my gradual transition to preferring single coil tones.

It's funny you mention the BT Jazzmaster because I wish I had not have sold mine (sold it to fund an MIK Casino that I wound up selling). The only thing I did to mine was to stick a Filtertron in the bridge in place of the stock humbucker. It was a great sounding guitar and made me love the feel/form of Jazzmasters. My K-Line Springfield (which is Chris's slightly tweaked strat). Olympic white, Lollars, mint guard, absolutely perfect size neck (pretty big but not like Fano huge).
The only minute thing I would change would be that sometimes I wish the headstock was trad Fender shape. That said, I think it's a dick request to wish that builders did that, so I ignore the thought and move on.
I also have a CS strat that's excellent in its own right, but head to head the K-Line just destroys it.
