Never owned one, but played with them. Sounds good, and better tracking than the oc2 if I rememeber.

I love the sound of the OC-2 if you want monophonic and analog. Best sounding octave I've ever heard. My next favorite is the octaves on the EHX Bass Micro Synth. A lot of times I'll turn the filter off and just use it for octaves, sounds great.
For digital, I use the new Bass Whammy and it sounds pretty good, but the octave up sounds a bit chirpy and artificial. Same with the Micro POG. The POG is sweet because it has a filter to dial out the hiss and chirpiness. I personally think the old big box POG sounds better than the POG 2, but its power requirements suck a bit. But I also just like the old big-box effects anyways, they look cooler.

It's pretty good, not as much character as the OC-2 but hanging in there, in between of a more normal sound and the OC-2 synth like tones.

Agreed on the Bass Micro Synth working well as a octave pedal -- mine kicked an OC-2 off my board. For a dedicated octaver, the Octron is the best I've heard.

The dod fx35 octoplus is another good one for low bucks. The tone knob is useful.

Those are great. I appreciate the simplified ocntrols. If you're like me you will spend a week with the equalization (bad) or you have your shit dialed in already & have it under control.

The Octoplus' tone knob is useful and that pedal sounds especially good with a boost pushing it.
The MXR seemed like it had 2 different styles of -1 octave. OC2 style (growl) and a less synthy, sub-sound (girth).
I found that the MXR and the OC2 track pretty much the same but the OC2 is simpler and it just sounds better to me.
Lastly on the MXR, the mid button also only effects the dry signal which I found to be pretty disappointing.
