Thanks for posting this, I'd never heard of this artist before - those instruments are fascinating :)

Amazon is also in the process of opening actual bookstores across the country, after successfully choking the physical bookstore business to death since their inception. Just sayin' :)

Was just reminded of the amazing mechanical sound sculpture thread over at the lines forum:

Basically everything in it is insane, but a couple favorites are:

I've always been a fan of Tristan Perich's 1-bit Symphony. The idea was that the listener would be present during the creation of the music by making it generated via programming versus a recording.

I hate that shit. I bought a Pierre Schaeffer box set from some store in France that Amazon didn't have and I had to create an account for this store that I know I will never use again. That shit pisses me off.

Back on topic, wind harps are cool. I saw a similar video to the ones below once where giant tubes where placed near an ocean and it created these beautiful drones. If anyone knows WTF I am talking about, please post it.
Yeah I can certainly sympathize with that?

Are you talking about this sculpture in Croatia? Was just coming in to post this, oddly enough.

Bleep Labs has some interesting stuff. I have a Thingamagoop and it's pretty fun to play around with. Some weird noises in there.

I agree. Played one at the Moog factory store. Lots of cool sounds and tons of fun.

The Geophone. A topographical based, 3d scan to drone algorithmic instrument. It'd be fun to loop a couple of these.

I've wanted a Cidrax ($750), since I first saw this video. One day...

I love Ciat Lonbarde stuff. I've actually been considering selling all my modular and buying a few of them. It's really not that insanely expensive considering everything that it does. I always wanted a PB2 and Coco, but that video just sold me on the Cidrax too
Strange Tales wrote:I guess if we're talking weird devices, it doesn't get weirder than stem cell research making a human neural network that improvises with musicians. I just found out about this, and it is the COOLEST FUCKING THING.

Brilliant.
This is also the coolest thing I've ever seen; one day I want to build something like this in my house

Another amazing and weird noisemaker is Rob Hordijk's Blippoo Box:

I'm on the list for his next run and couldn't be more excited :animal:
