Where the Singing Tree turned up/became popular first doesn't affect its status as a go to pedal at a given point in ILF's history.

Does this mean at some point 5 years from now we will all remember those hilarious old times when glitches and flangers and ring mods and whatever were the flavor of the week? Are we Nostalgia Machines?

Anyway, I will always second RATs as weird lighter ODs, esp. for bass.

Glitch is absolutely the new flavor of the week. I like glitch effects for sure but apart from the Raptio I don't really know how I would use them except for noise.

Does this mean I'm gonna have to cover up my "flanger" and "ring mod" tattoos?

Bump! What a really need is a simple eq pedal, but I just don't want to buy that. I want to be something tastier, some sort of light overdrive with a useful eq section and ideally some other fun features. It'll be used to add some grit and add highs to my baritone for the songs I play it on instead of my standard tuned guitar. I'm trying my rat in the spot I need tomorrow, but i don't think it really has the ability to be overly bright...

that sounds like the way i use this:
https://skreddypedals.com/skreddy_pedal ... hancer.php
doesn't add grit itself, but boosts & brightens.

A rat will get much brighter when you turn the gain down.
A Driving Notion would be fun to try because you can add a lot of clean highs and just dirty up the lows, if you want to.
