Re: So...Did I just buy anoter Big Muff again??
A short update, in case anyone gives a crap...
Received the peddle, tried it, love it.
It's fairly high gain, I have the impressing that it gets more saturated than an nyc bmp. Can't be sure though, don't own one anymore, so could check side by side.
The one thing that imo sets it apart from any other muff type fuzz I owned so far: It seems to be incapable of sounding bad, no matter how the tone and sustain controls are dialed in. I don't know if that's what the "modified tone stack" is about, but what I noticed straight off the bat: The tone control is useable all across the sweep. I'm used to big muffs having a tone control that makes things either overly boomy, with almost all highs/mids filtered out, or painfully sharp and nasty with the tone control maxed in the opposite direction.
With this one, you get enough versatility from the tone control to shape the color of the fuzz to fit whatever guitar/pickups you're using, and to just eq it without losing the actual muff mojo. For that reason alone it beats the competition I tried so far. I also love the old school control layout, not a fan of dirt peds with lots of controls to tweek the 'cut' or 'scoop' or 'focus', or whatever bullshit parameter that hardly makes any noticebale difference imo.

The one I have was pre LED, and rolled off a ton of treble when it was off, so I true bypassed it and added a LED.

Damnit, mine doesn't have a led either. At first I thought it was broken, and checked my power supply and all my cables...Turns out he effect was turned on with the volume turned all the way down...Rookie mistake
I tried it on my ac15C2, which has a tad more treble than I care for anyway. But I don't want this pedlol to mess with my main amp's clean tone or anything. I might have to mod it for true bypass and a led too. And than I'll add a DC input as well, cause right now I left the bottom plate opened a little bit and pulled the battery clip out, so I could hook it up to my PS

Yeah looking for these sustaint - SUSS TAINT - models, but they don't pop up and are hella expensive.
Anyone know if there's a DIY PCB out there?

Any muff pcb. It's the component values you need

Cool. Wasn't sure if the tone stack changes made the circuit dramatically different.
Seconding the poke for component values.

Looks like it has some minor value changes here and there, and electros in place of the standard film coupling caps. Of course the tone stack change sticks out the most. Based on the layout and notes, it seems like it keeps the bass freqs relatively the same across the sweep, while changing the mids/treb.Iommic Pope wrote:http://www.bigmuffpage.com/Big_Muff_Pi_ ... part2.html

Surprised I don't see more clones of that clone

Well, yeah it's a pretty great variation, by the sound of it.
Hell, I want one for sure.

Srry dudes...

The pcb is stuck REALLY tight inside that little plastic case. Only way to get a hold of the pcb, is to pull the wires, which I'm prtty sure would fuck up the wires before the pcb starts to give...:s
As far as I can tell there's no way to open the little plastic case without breaking it. I guess that's how they tried to keep secrets before they invention of goop
