I've been hesitant to enter into the tc crowd because of the footswitches.
what do you all think about that noise?
and this or the ehx 720? that doesn't have midi though I think?

They're clickless. At least on the ditto.

Looks like a dedicated decay knob, so the fade out is global methinks?

As you layer more and more the initial layer(s) will start fading out. Think of that function more like an extreme sound-on-sound delay than a looper. With it dialed back you'll get your traditional neverending layers looper.

Plenty of room on that back panel to generously space the jacks so you could use pancake plugs, even in stereo. But do they space them to allow that? Nope. Add $40 in solderless cables to the cost.

Or EBS flat cables for like 5 bucks apiece.

Is there a way to instantly clear loops? That's my gripe with a lot of these looks, and what makes the dl-4 and headruah so good for live use is that they don't need to have the memory cleared but recording something new.

I see a lot of mod potential for that effects control.

Its a bummer the stop is global and not for each loop. Kind of defeats the two-loop purpose IMO.

Yeah my main concern is how do you stop or add an effect to a single loop when two loops are going? That will make or break it for me whether I ditch my boomergang for this. In the Kaiser vid he has to stomp with two feet at once to affect a single loop. Uhm, is there a better way? Definitely waiting on the manual to make a decision on the viability of this for me personally.

MIDI, probably.

Been waiting for an upgraded X2 or better yet, this X4 to come out. My only complaint is that (and correct me if I'm wrong) it seems like loops still can't be locally stored and recalled! :?: I know they can be exported/imported to and from a computer but it seems like a no-brainer to put local storage of loops on any modern full-featured looper. Someone, tell it's there and I missed it.

Check the sweetwater demo/interview. I believe you can, but check it out as I don't recall exactly what they said, but I know they talked about it.

Infinity or Boomerang killer?

For the Boomerang III, definitely no (especially with a Sidecar) - the 4 loops alone, and 4 modes (sync, serial, free and serial+sync) instead of 2 the Ditto 4x has.

As for the Infinity, I couldn't really answer - I followed the thread on TGP when it first came out and it seems like it was designed one way, and everybody started demanding features which they added over time, albeit in a very kludgy way (I never considered one because of the sidejacks lol) - though I guess the Infinity stores loops which is important to some people.

I think for someone who wants to up their looper game from the Ditto, this will be great. We'll have to see how well the MIDI is implemented, with a controller it might be pretty close (but still only 2 loops) to the Boomerang III. And it's cheaper then both.
