TAFM?

Lighter fuzz tones from it are more overdriven in character. Plus, the clean blend lets you dial it in so a little fuzzy OD sits under your clean signal.

IMO the fuck gives more of a "crunchy clean through overdrive/distortion" than "clean with dirt in it". But, semantics.

Love me my Algal Bloom v2, I got it before the clean blend on it was a thing though :(. I generally have it set to be on the heavier side though because it is amazing set to crazy distortion.
Solution 1:
Have Tom add clean blend! It's on its own board, so it should be doable.
Solution 2:
Buy second algal with clean, set it up low gain, keep original one balls to the wall.
Solution 3:
Disregard these solutions in favor of other solutions

Did they? I'm not that big a SY fan to look into the band past the music. :idk:

This! I have had this and another 9v superbolt clone. I actual prefer my little vero 9v clone because it has a grittier sound. The supreaux circuit, at least the one I had, ran 18v for more headroom. The 9v vero one I had w/o the charge pump was so awesome for lofi a gritty sound.

Lee Ranaldo started using it in the late 90s. The good albums are pre 90s.

Soul food is good for that dirty clean tone OP is looking for. No ILF cred though.

Was wondering how you would mention Klons. 10/10 did not disappoint.
But personally I'm more of a Harmonic Percolator set to low-input, high output kinda guy :hobbes:
I will+1 the HP set low/hi. I have built Percolator circuits with lower gain transistors and 2n7000's in the clipping section which have a wonderful sounding cleanish-dirtyish setting. Here is an example. Playing starts at about 1:20.

I would suggest having somebody in the Shark Tank build you a one trick pony pedal that just does the cleanish distortion thing. Not a lot of knobs, not a lot of versatility, just one good sound.

Try a few revisions of the Fulltone OCD. Its clean boost/edge of breakup is perfect for that dirty clean you want. You just gotta fuck around with a few versions to decide if you like or don't like the more subdued tone of version 1.4, the hairiness of the V3, or the more natural sounding recent versions.

now for a slightly more different suggestion: a way huge saucy box or pork loin.
i've been using a saucy box for "dirty cleans" lately. i use it to boost the volume, add some grit (blended with the clean signal so i don't lose lows or clarity), and cut the highs a little bit so my high notes don't become ice picks.

the mini works pretty well for this too.

Monarch with the gain below 25% as an alternative to the already great suggestions

So as a total sidebar, I'm looking to run a split chain for a dirty clean tone. One being actually clean, the other being fuzzy, then blending. It turns into a big pile of pedals, but I have a little pile of garage rock songs sitting around that don't ever need to get heavy, just dirty, so I never want that clean to go away all the way, just more texture piled on.

That said, when I don't feel so crazy, I love my Fuck for this :thumb:

Also these:

DBA Interstellar Overdriver makes a really nice low gain pedal...like a chimey fuzz pedal.

Harmonic Perc is good too.

Or you can just have DannDubbleEwe build you a DOD250 clone. :snax:

I like the Stone Deaf PDF-1 as well.

Been wanting to try out the Big Game Bedlam Drive.

Sounds legit. Too big for my board though. I've been itching for a better OCD tone than my V1.4 with the germanium diodes cut out gives me.

I use my rat as an overdrive, the volume on my guitar is rolled off a bit and I increase my guitars volume for more dirt.
