Got'd!

I'm running Klone into Fuck for my dirt section. I'm gonna run Fuck into Black Forest next week. I'll let you all know how they stack up!

Puns aside, I am very interested to hear the results of this field test.

Guys... I caved and snatched a green Mini!

I figure that instead of getting both at once, I'll see how the Mini does me. If I prefer it's high-gain stuff, I'll grab a Hungry Robot. If I need moar fuzz I'll get a Buzzz later on. And if I want more of the same, maybe a Fuck...

Also interested. It's a weird thing, because I loved what the BF did with my little solid state, but with my Vibrolux it just isn't doing what I want it to. Don't get me wrong, there isn't a bad sound in it, just not the ones I currently seek.

If you don't have one already I'd suggest a ge Treble Booster with a "mid boost" setting for one of them. They blend so well with other pedals and amp gain. I don't see myself ever not having one now that I've had a good taste.

I could see it pairing very well with the Hungry Robot, and think between the two you'd have plenty of gain on tap.

I use my Keeley Java paired with a Lone Wolf Audio Outsider (which is extremely weak on gain and output for a supposed Systech HE clone), and even with the Keeley and the Outsider set with the gain @ approx 3/4 I have plenty for even death, doom, industrial. The two paired give me some of those gnarly ge mids and treble, but the low mids and lows are very amp like. Palm mutes sound/feel awesome, and it doesn't fart out/get splatty.

Love the Stone Deaf PDF-1, and all Systech HE clones as well for pairing with other pedals/amp dirt too.

If you can't tell I really like kinda gnarly freq specific boosting versus your standard smooth/non colored overdrive/clean boost type pedals.

The Mini is definitely the way to go.

I use my Mini with a Wounded Paw Attack Goat, which is similar to the Buzzz, and honestly I could just use those two pedals to get almost all the tones I need. For a long time I also used a Mini and a TAFM as my only two dirt pedals, and outside of lacking the octave tonez, that was a brilliant pairing.

Where did you have the volume on the BF?

Anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 way up, depending on where the gain was set and whether I was stacking it with other pedals, but I don't think I ever dimed the volume, which in retrospec, now that it's in the mail, was dumb. Especially because I had dimed everything else on occasion. Hmm..

The Mini came today! I've only had about 40 minutes at low volume with it but already I feel I've made an awesome choice- it goes from a really glassy, full clean boost to some awesome, dirty fuzz. It already feels a lot more dynamic than my SD-1, but also makes a RAT sound a bit muffled and middy.

Who has two of these? Because there's so much shit it can do than I could actually imagine having 2 of them!

Scientific fact: BAT products don't work to their intended potential unless the output volume of the pedal is AT LEAST 2/3 of capacity.
They start to shine when they start to smash.

I have two Minis, as well as a Mountain Range and a F*ck... They are all pretty fantastic. Stacking ss/bs pedals gets me some of the best sounds... very glad to have discovered Brian's stuff. A Buzz, TAFM, or some sort of custom pedal of his is next on my dirt list.

+1

The only reason I got rid of my Elements, is that is was a bit overwhelming. So many different sounds inthere, with just one footswitch and no presets or anything :idk:

I'm more of a 'set and forgot' kinda guy, and I usually don't really know what to do with dirt peds that have more than your basic three controls :idk:

But yeah, the elements is the shit.

i found a setting that works on both the OD and Distortion channels well so i can switch if i need to but i see your point its so customisable that you could do with a pre-set but i doubt that would ever fit in that size enclosure. But ill be getting a Heisenberg in the new year so ill never need to flick that switch from Brutal to OD :-)

So I finally go tto play with the Mini for a bit today!

It does sound great-but it seems pretty mid-scooped to me. I've played around with the EQ quite a bit, but it's always very full-on. Is this just because I'm used to the fairly mid-bumped sound of my SD-1 and RAT?

I wouldn't say it's scooped, but if you crank the bass and the treble the mids will be scooped by default. It should be pretty flat with both the tone knobs at 12... I think. Maybe pm Brian or ask on his subforum?
