I'm so torn on the Orion. It costs $500 here in AUS and sounds good, but the fact it has a $9 accutronics tank in it makes me so uncomfortable with dropping so much $.

Oh my fuck, I had no idea that Spaceman reverb existed! Save up for that. Then sell it to me if you ever get bored of it.

Shame it's more expensive than the Screamin FX tank as I much prefer the look and size of it.


So yeah, buy one.

Although there is this aspect too. I need to hear if it can do absurd fender tank style surf reverb before even thinking about maybe considering even looking at it.

I forgot about the Carl Martin Reverb, which is at least uses a good size spring tank, and seems like the sort of thing that would crop up at a decent second hand price.

I like that it has 2 switchable settings but I really love the way the uverbia sounded in that demo, and it has a nice overdriven sound.

Also Danny had the idea to put the control section in a normal sized enclosure and mount the springs underneath a pedaltrain which would be badass. Otherwise I would just put some Velcro on it and put pedals on top of it. But stuff with soft touch switches so I wouldn't bounce the springs around too bad.

I'm very fond of the Premier 90 reverb, which is a fairly cheap and shitty unit from the 60s. They use kind of odd tubes, have lovely faux wood grain vinyl covering, and are a bit noisy, but the reverb depth is ridiculous. They almost can go 100 % wet, the reverb signal can be louder than the dry, you can hit the front of your amp a bit harder with some tubey goodness, and if you set the unit in front of a loud amp, you can get some great feedback out of the springs. People say the Premier tank on 3 is like the Fender 63 reverb tank on 10. Not sure what they go for now, but I paid $125 for mine about 10 years ago.

Looks like $300 to $500 now, which is more than I would've figured. Mine needed a bit of help to get it working right, though. New caps and such.

Son I can just kick that shit! Another option would be to put the stuff on top in a bypass looper so I don't have to think about it.

Seriously, it would be easier to mount the tank to the floor side of the board on foam [multivox tank was like this]. It shouldn't be bad anyway...takes a good kick anyway to get the real clang.

I've been really eyeing the danelectro spring king recently, and it seems to be a sweet option for springs on a budget. Other than that, this also seems kinda fun http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Spring-Reverb/

pretty sure i only paid like 170$ for the Sole Mate Jr. having access to manipulate the springs is a major plus, pretty much turns it into an instrument if you're into experimental sounds, running it into effects is a blast.
