I mean... the best thing about The Cure is how broad they were in terms of mood, emotion, tone.
You've got songs that are among the most bleak things ever recorded, totally morose, make Morrissey look like a happy dude.
Right beside songs that are the most syrupy songs to ever hit the Top 40.
That's why they were such a real band... Robert allowed himself to feel whatever he was feeling and not temper it or tone it down at all.

^ The pitch of that chime sound at the beginning, coupled with the artifacts of youtube compression, feels like he's fingering my brain in the rapiest, most uncomfortable way possible. Then it went downhill from there.

KMKMKM is legitimately great. Actually truth be told, I listen to it more than any other Cure album, all talk aside.
