IT LIVES!

After a few months of this project sitting in limbo (and by limbo I mean my garage while I was waiting for my friend to get back from tour) I hammered it out today. Ultimately I replaced the pickups, wiring, bridge, and installed Schaller strap buttons. I changed the positions of the pickup toggle and output jack to be more like a Jazzmaster's, it just felt right after removing the original coil tap switches and replacing the stock humbuckers with P-90s. Not to mention the body is offset anyways. For a guitar that had been broken in two, it sounds and feels surprisingly good.

My. God. Was anybody in the way when that guitar met its end? Poor little mockingbird.

That's gonna take some doing. It's gonna need a whole new neck! I lucked out on the Jet King. Its neck didn't get damaged at all and was still straight as an arrow when I restrung it. Only advice I have is to clean up the breaks, pull out splinters, straighten broken bits out and glue that sucker up with Elmer's Carpenter's/Wood Glue. Then get it under as much pressure as possible for 24-48 hours.

Only the floor was in the way, no one got hurt except for the guitar. Yeah, the neck was already cracked before it met it's final end, but I think a standard start neck should fit. I have yet to take the measurements. We'll see!

Did taping it up provide enough pressure for it to make a solid joint with glue? I was thinking I'd need some kind of belt, but if taping would work that would actually be easier!

Well that's good. I heard that there was a kid in the way when the Jet King met its end, he was never heard from or seen again...

I think it did. I used painters tape to set it up then I pulled the electrical tape taught as I wrapped it to get it as tight as I could.

Measuring is key particularly with a BC Rich, most Mocking birds [and warlocks] take a 24 fret 24 3/4" scale neck which is not a easy thing to find [BC Rich, LTD and Godin are the easies to find] but not all… my lucite mocking bird body fits a standard start neck...

I have to check this again, but a while back I measured the scale of it, and I believe it was 25,5" so I hope it all works out (it's not a BC branded guitar actually, so that might explain the unexpected scale).

Major problem is though that I won't have any cloud shaped markers on the neck anymore. That does make me sad a little bit.
