Boss OD3.

My SF Twin Reverb lacks of mids and it's bright as hell. OD3 is the perfect pedal to compensate mids and lack of lows and at the same time give my Twin a "Bassman" type of sound that I love for playing rhythm.

Ive been really curious about the odb3. Seems like one of those standard grind pedals. Theyre so cheap used I should just try one out.

A rat might work. Can it do light overdrive sounds well? I've only ever known the rat for crazy grindy distortion. I'll check the od3 too.

I've always been a little curious about The Elements, but there's so much going on with it I feel like it'd be hard to dial it in to something I like. I tend to stay away from too much tweaking. Are there any good demos that show off what I'm looking for with it? Damn, it's also really expensive compared to everything else I've seen

Sarno Earth Drive has a really nice tone stack on it. Can definitely give your lows and mids a boost. Other idea would be a PDF-1 or something similar to boost the frequencies you want boosting.

Never heard of either of these. The PDF-1 sounds interesting. I'll have to find more demos when I'm off of work.

Elements is easy to dial in. It is a really well thought out pedal.

Give me an example of a song with a tone you're after and I'll try and dial it in and post it on YouTube. Not that I'm a virtuoso or anything but I'm just very certain of how good and versatile the Elements is.

Well, I’ve used a RAT for so many years. I keep wanting to use something else, something groovier. We have all these boutique fuzz boxes, but I’m so comfortable with the RAT. I can get a variety of sounds with it, and I know how to get them quickly.

The Catalinbread SFT has a much less midrangey sound than the TS variety. A fuck ton of bass (or at least to my ears), and sounds really good through my SF Twin. Pretty much instant Keith Richards territory. If other ODs were described as cutting, this one would be more of a blunt force thwak.

Boss BD-2 also does this sort of more open (hated word, I know, but I feel like it fits for describing less midrange) sound. Also, fittingly enough, the "open" setting on the Wampler Euphoria also does this well, even though I associate that pedal with a little more wanky kind of playing.

Mexican Jazzmaster (until my jazzmaster body and neck come in so I can finish my build) > Boxidizer > Civil War Big Muff Clone > Ibanez DE-7 > Boss RV-5 > Early 70's Peavey Vulcan > Crappy Randall 4x12 with v30s. That's it at the moment. I play shoegaze stuff.

Man, I guess I need to look into rats if that's the main Yo La Tengo sound. I fuckin loooove that sound. Though I'm looking for a less fuzzy sound, my muff can handle all the fuzz stuff.

What about a rangemaster clone of some sort? Most modern versions have a variable treble boost to full range boost and can add everything from a little sparkle to amp pushing overdrive. Rangemaster circuits don't get a lot of love around here, but I feel like if more peeps tried them they would quit buying and selling the same mini.........at least for a while.

I thought the rangemaster was a fuzz circuit? I don't really know if my amp can be pushed to overdrive, at least not before overloading the poor thing at an obscene volume and causing the speakers to distort.
