I discovered Gai after Boris paid tribute to them on the "hardcore version" of their Vein LP. I also found out about Gloom and Confuse that way and fuck... does Japan ever do crust right!

Holy shit, Leatherface is exactly what I was looking for! What's the best record to go for IYO? And Ghostlimb isn't really what I had in mind but I fucking love it anyway. Reminds me of Josh Scogin at his best (The Chariot if they had riffs instead of random white noise and feedback). I'm gonna buy that Ripcord LP at some point, too. Phenomenal.
Hey, and I thought of a few more on my own. Can't believe I forgot Fucked Up, who are basically Titus Andronicus from Canada (well, I guess Titus Andronicus are Fucked Up from America).

They get way post-punk too though. They're like the baby of The Beatles and Joy Division. With a little David Bowie in the mix.

Fun fact Viet Cong are fucking garbage and they're pussies who can't figure out if they meant for their name to be offensive because they're eunuched CIS librarians who have secret longings for varsity sports on network television.
