So while I disagree with your specific hypothetical example... I agree with the sentiment. How dare these fuckers (formed 2006) just steal the name of an older heavy psych band (formed 1984) erasing part of their impact and career.

Fuck and No. BOC are criminally dismissed because of their AOR staples and so, so much shit in the second half of their career, but their first three albums (which sound nothing like the BOC Ghost is dickriding, tbh) are fantastic in a Steppenwolf-y way.

I think Opus Eponymous is a really fun album. It's catchy as fuck classic metal as theatre you know? Infestissumam however... could the production be any more fucking horrible? It's the musical equivalent of trying to drink from a mist sprayer.
