So here's an interesting twist:

Image

although the schematic notes "AC SIG", the actual power supply notes the 7V as DC. Luckily I am crazy and grabbed a 7vdc wart the other day as well. :D

Testing and results coming soon...

Nope, still nothing. Going to have to see if I can grab another 10v and see, also probably open it up and look for loose cables, etc. Dude -- you seriously rock for all the help so far! :!!!:

I wonder if that +7 DC volt supply is for LEDs, it seems crazy to allocate a separate voltage leg of such small current.

Well, been too busy to spend much time out looking for other hackable supplies, and just missed out on another eBay auction because my 4g decided to cut out and just spin when I tried to bid at the last minute. Maybe someday...

Update!

Ended up snagging a used OEM power supply on ebay and it works! Well, the mixer section and routing matrix work, but there is some issue with the tape section. Seems like a combination of the buttons for transport (some work, some are iffy, some don't) and probable negligence by the prior owner in maintaining the motor and pinch roller mechanisms. Bummer if I can't get it fixed a hundred percent, but the mixer section alone sounds great and is really flexible. HUGE thanks to crochambeau for all his help in trying to work this out!

:joy: :omg: :!!!:

Ah, it was nothing. That's awesome you dug up something that works!

Most tape transports need rubber replacement in this day & age, I'd suspect drive belts first. Sometimes logic driven switching wants a confirmation of function, and will kick off/act dodgy if the mechanicals are not working correctly in the first place.

If it is a belt, this guy has a lot in stock http://www.vintage-electronics.net/prb.aspx

A little pricey though, but he has been reliable for me. Be sure to measure it instead of going off someone else's measurement (the width and style you can, but the length/circum. I would measure)...they are never the same (at least in the ones I have tried to be lazy in fixing).

Good tips, thanks! Just have to find some time (and enough bravery) to crack it back open and poke around. :erm:

Good luck! I've met belts that literally took me all of two minutes to replace once the case was opened... others, not so much. Here's hoping it's an easy one.
