Is the PitchFactor better than the POG2? I played with a POG2 recently and was really, really into how great the tracking was and the sounds I could get out of it. I've been going back and forth between getting a PitchFactor and POG2 now.

Harmony Man seems solid enough if the price is right. They got a lot of power in a package that wouldn't scare technophobes too much. But the four preset limit is a bit WTF in the age it came out.

Partly due to all the other crazy shit you can do with it.
The line 6 m series has a good pitch shifter as well and I have seem m5s go for $100

I think the line 6 pitch shifters on the m series are total garbage...you can definitely not play chords on it. about as far away from polyphonic as is possible. love pretty much every other effect on my m5 but damn the pitch shifter sucks

I also got rid of the bass whammy because it was too big. I haven't replaced it, but I also haven't really been into that kind of effect lately. I really wish the digitech drop would go up and down, then it would be perfect for me.

I'm actually wondering now if I want a regular pitch shifter or an Organizer. I was playing around with some organ type sounds with the Whammy and liking it.

Also that Boss Multi Overtone. Not a standard pitch shifter but it seems like a really interesting pitch shifter/chorus hybrid.

Seeing as the drop is what like 20 dollars less than the full whammy it's pretty bloody stupid that it doesn't shift up.
Organizer is awesome but it can be annoying to play with the delay if you're doing fast kinda stuff.
I thought the M5 pitch shifter was ok but the Boss and Digitech ones wipe the floor with it IMO.

MO2 is impressive--I understand that algo resides on the GT001/100 as well....

Heh. Yeah, it's a little overkill, but I'm actually using all three in my live rig right now. Someday when my boards are more finalized, I'll post a a pic with the logic.

Technically, I could make do with two... but... then I'd have to change one between songs, and I honestly don't trust myself to do that.

Organizer doesn't track well. I had mine for only a day before flipping it. It was just too noticable.

My problem with the whammy is on both I've had, it'd do a 1/4 to 1/2 tone shift in the toe up position. Which meant I couldn't turn it on just before using. I'd either have to tune around it and leave it on the whole time or try to go REALLY FAST activating and then sitching to treadle.

Kinda just wished they'd make it like Weeping Demon where you can have it be either manual or auto engaging. I'd use a whammy pedal a LOT more like that.

I'm also a member of the Pitchfactor4life club, but I do like other stuff just as much, and I'm not crazy about its plain whammy tone. I prefer multi-fx for straight whammy stuff now because you can reinforce and fuck up the shifted tone a lot more.
Whammy-wah is an elusive little trick for lots of multi-fx, it seems. It's no problem for the M9 or the GT-001, because you can set the expression pedal to control unlimited things simultaneously. Not so in the RP360, which gives it one parameter only. The Pitchfactor, Modfactor and Mobius don't have it either. The Eclipse has a dedicated whammy-wah algorithm that is awesome, and it has better pitch shifting algorithms and conversion than the Pitchfactor. I'm not that corksniffy about my pitch shifted tone though, and I like to run it through dirt most of the time anyway. It's the myriad modulation options and programmable twists and turns that got me to level up to rack. 8-layer harmodulator, with reverse crystals after? Yes please. That and I was running out of room for bigass pedals with midi cables and shit, and of course the delays and reverbs are of the same high quality, so yeah. I still love my PF, and the Eclipse still doesn't have the Harpeggiator, but it's not the end-all. The TC Fireworx is just as capable, and had all kinds of LFO control before it was cool. I had an original HOG for a while and it sounded great, but it only takes you to the outskirts of pitch shifting fun town. You need modulation options to get in deep, and your cheapest route to that in non-rack form is either a Digitech RP360/RP360XP or a Boss GT-001. Both do 5ths and can be modulated by LFO, expression and footswitch.
The Multi Overtone algorithm is a bit more like frequency shifting than pitch shifting. It's also nice for seasoning the reverbs and delays. All of the effects that are in the new GT's are better for it, because of the added control options. It just takes everything to the next level.

i used to think the whammy was too big too, but then i bought 3 of them and its like way too big. so you go back to one and you feel pretty good about things.
