Would like to play with a timebender one of these days, though.

Pretty much.

... yeah, i know. TWSS
Totally, but like I said, I kinda think an actual plate/hall type of reverb might be the missing link for what I'm after. As far as delays go, my lust for a time bender probably has more to do with GAS rather than anything else, I indeed already get close enough with the DL8/ES2/Freeze combo.
I figured -if I could somehow find the cash- since I already have two different boards (different bands/projects, bass/guitar), I could justify getting another delay pedal and putting one of em on the small/doom/backup/bass/grab'n'go/home board
Either way an extra delay pedal wouldn't be total overkill imo, 'cause a lot of times I use the DL8 just as a looper.
And for what the hof vs mini hof goes: Still not an easy call, but the considerable price and size difference is making me lean more towards the mini hof right now...
Anyone here ever try both the HOF and Trinity? I'd rather not spend $20 extra on a couple gimmicky modes, especially since the toneprint thing allows both pedals to store an extra user preset, right?
RM-1N: Awesome, but it's not too small and board friendly, and it's a bit pricey considering the fact that my Afterneath probably covers sililar grounds. I'm drowning in fuzz peds as it is, so that's not really an argument either for me

so how cheap is 'on the cheap'
TBH I'm a little unclear as to what you really want to do.

I'll second the MS70
Lot of reverb and delays without breaking the bank.

What I've got in my head: Huge eery monotonous hypnotic drones, using layers, loops, samples...
For a somewhat avant garde project I'm hoping to get going, either by myself or with one of my buddies. No big aspirations or anything, if it'll be just a jam/improv thing and never get further than that, than that'd be perfectly okay.
Not really sure on my own defenition of cheap either, I just can't afford the eventide/strymon/etc route. So I'm mostly after a good bang for the buck, like stuff that's a bit underrated for whatever reason. Sleeper pedals, gear that often gets overlooked because the cool super hyped boutique version is stealing the spotlight

And what about a looper like the Ditto x2 with easy to use Reverse and half speed capabilities. Nice way to create drones, isn't it?

I would agree with that -- a looper into a nice sounding 'verb.

I'm not really familiar with the Ditto x2...But if you're saying it can do DL-4 type stuff, than I'm definitely interested
Edit: Checked it. Want it. Thanks a lot for the tip.

Don't know what it costs, and it's sick device and all...But it's more of a synth, with harsh glitchy synthy sounds and all. Rather than something to mess up my guitar sound so it sounds somewhat organic and ambienty

Trogotronic 669cv does noise synth and can affect an input signal (not cheap though, but worth it).
RM-1n sounds like the way to go though from what I can tell. Or a Timebender. Or an osc fuzz and analog delay.

get something like the ms70, you've got a delay, maybe get a couple cheap contact mics. Limit yourself to the most simple setup possible and see what you can do with that and I guarantee you'll make more interesting music

Pretty solid strategy. Contact mics are so cheap it's beyonde stupid that I haven't bought one a lot sooner

I guess that's where I'm trying to get a little better bead on what you are looking to do because a lot of that description sounds like the kind of descriptors applied to the styles you are trying to avoid
So I'm trying to figure out what the diff is so we can maybe target some equipment that'd help with that differentiation
