I have a delay already. Still rockin my DE-7. Also I'm not really looking for spring reverb. My amp has a pretty nice spring reverb sound going. Just looking for something more extreme.

Man, the RM-1N would be a dream if it were a little cheaper. If they made like a mini version with some stuff trimmed out I'd be all over that.

Big washy verb is what I was after too. Don't know about the Polara, but the RV-7 was the first affordable non-rack unit for me to sound that huge without sounding too artificial or processed. For more trippy extreme stuff I highly recommend the Afterneath. It's a little finnicky as a regular reverb pedal though, but maybe by now there's demos floating around that show exactly how close it gets to emmulating a plate reverb. I use mine at the end of my chain to either add some 'air' (a lot actually), or to go furhter and fuck shit up. Didn't have use for spring reverb either, my vox takes care of that, and in a rather nice -not overly drippyploinkyspringysurfy- kinda way too. When I got the RV3 I didn't have need for an extra delay either, just got it because of the reverb. But I ended up using the RV3's delay modes more than my other delay pedal. It never hurts to have an extra delay in the arsenal, though I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like crispy clean digital delays...

The two options that looked perfect for me: Afterneath and RM-1N. The RM-1N would've cost me considerably more, take up more precious board space, and it was just overkill as far as features and sounds go. If I ever get tempted to get another 'real' reverb pedal, it'll be another Hardwire, or an RV-2.

I liked the features of the DBA Reverberation Machine when I had it for a short time. It comes up around the $150 used every now and then.

The Afterneath looks really cool but I've never seen them pop up used and new they run like $220 or something. A little much for me. I'll definitely look into the hardwire a little more. Seems like it might suit my tastes.

if you're after washy modulated verb, try a supernatural. thing sounds like a MBV pad

It can have a large volume jump, but it doesn't have to have one. The bright and dark switch does change the volume a bit (at least in perception) and the delta knob adds some volume. If you dial it in, it shouldn't be a problem though as there us a volume knob. It does have a nice tone and can drive an amp. If I liked reverb emulations more I might have kept mine. But, yea, it sounds good for what it is.

Malekko Spring Chicken LTD for some real fun stuff with extreme *unusable* oscillation settings

Have not tried one, but the TRex whirley verbs are less than $100 all day and have modulation.

how does the super natural compare to the RV-7? are they similar?

Yea, it's a spring emulation. If you want more modes go with the Boss or RRR (I've never used either but they get great reviews as everyone in this thread has said). I will say to stay away from the RRV-10 because it was just weird sounding to me in a bad way (and it took quite a bit of power...plus it is a half rack); don't get caught up in the cheap price...there is better stuff.

There are actual spring tanks out there for around 100-150 if you look around. I've seen the Little Lanilei for as low as 120 before (never used one though).

My favorites are the Subdecay Spring Theory and Malekko Spring Chicken, nothing else that I've played in that price range sounds as good, I pretty much only seem to like spring and room for the most part.

Cathedral. They are real cheap now and has lotsa functions, can be modded for latching infinite reverb (like a freeze). Can also act as a standalone delay and a static looper, if you are into that

EDIT: whoops didn't read the second page. However, I still dig the cathedral, but the modulated reverb leaves a lot to be desired imo
