In B-more, there's the 8x10 club. I have a friend who gets some gigs there . They have local and small national bands. Sonar is another place that books touring bands.
I'm not sure what size venues you're looking for. I know some crappy redneck bars. I'm a remote Baltimoron.

Then there's always Meat-Town, which is a popular place for indie and gazey shows in the basement of some random-ass house on Hamilton Street. Never been there, but would like to be a frequenter.
