This's what I was gonna say. Doesn't really clean up super nicely though.
Also, the Basic Audio Alter-Destiny is a pretty versatile Muff. One of the most versatile I've played.

Cleaning up is the least of my concern
The blunderbuss vs musket differences should be easy to find online I guess, plenty of reviews and demos I'm sure.
Basic Audio Alter-Destiny: The sales pitch and specs make it look like a quality muff clone with plenty of tweak options to dial in tones that are a lot less easy to drown in a loud band. Than again, that's what lured me into buying a Swollen Pickle. And it turned out to be just another muff, with tone controls that had to stay around noon to not sound horrible
I'm not versatility btw. At least when it means getting a ton of dfferent sounds out of one pedal. I'm pretty much a set and forget kinda guy. I usually max the gain, and I like to be able to fine tune the treble/bass, depending on my guitar and amp, but once I'm done I hardly ever feel the need to touch anything. Or that's the goal anyway. I'd rather leave subtle differences up to the builder, I kinda prefer my pedals pre-tuned, without too many grit/crunch/scoop controls
I guess I'm weird that way
Either way, the Alter-Destiny is $200 and rather scarce on the used market. Those blackout effectors shouldn't be impossible too find though.

Sorry, I meant musket when I wrote blunderbuss. But they're pretty much the same anyway in broad terms.

Yeah, the Musket may be a slightly better choice. The Blunderbuss's louder and brasher. The Musket's smoother.
Also, frigid midget, the Alter-Destiny is probably overkill in terms of versatility then.
I think you should just go with two pedals instead of one. Might make your selection easier.

Yeah, it's not like I HAVE to go with a small two-in-one deal, though it would've been cool if there were something like that out there that also happens to be affordable and easy available. It's just that I wanted the two effects to work at the same time, with one on/off switch. A two pedal setup with a TB looper takes more monies and board space, But yeah, at this point it still makes sense to just try my hotcake in front of something like the musket. The plan is to end up with sorta of a blend between a focused thick overdrive and a typical whooly muff tone. Basically a Muff, but with less of whatever makes a regular Muff dissapear in a mix...

You may wanna take a listen to something like the Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie B.

^Only checked some lousy recorded bass demo, but everthing else makes it seem like an excellent candidate...If only it were a bit cheaper and/or easier to come by on the used market :s

It's fucking huge
And if I'm not mistaking, it's a superfuzz and an ic muff in one, right? I already have an fz-2 on my board, so it'd make more sense to get an opamp muff clone if I wanted to go that route

The newer units are super fuzz + eau Claire thunder with a whole lot more in eq functionality...

What about the Big Distortion Sound Machine? It's two fuzz circuits rather than fuzz and OD, but they're in parallel, two (or one) outputs, one on/off footswitch, and volume knobs to blend. Not sure, but if you ask nice, your ol' pal Aen might be able to replace one of the circuits with year of the rat or dark boost. But maybe not, because its likely all built on one pcb.
Just a thought.

Just grab your favorite muff and overdrive and velcro them together.

Yeah, that's the plan, for a lack of a magical two-in-one pedal that's not bigger and doesn't cost more than a single pedlol.
Don't really have a favorite muff yet though. Leaning towards a supercollider or a musket atm. They both get nothing but great reviews, and shouldn't be impossible to find used for an okay price...

Why didn't I know that sooner? Not that I can spend $350 on another pedal though, even if it's really two awesome effects in one
