No drama that I remember, but oohlala licensed some DE circuits and built them to their expectations, different artwork, etc, but charged a bit more than DE herself. I think they started to fizzle out right when I joined here so the history of that one is lost to me :)

there were no drama with ohlalala just a lot of expectations, mostly because the prices were higher than the prices of the units before their operation, and the only perceived value was a paintjob, (the soda meiser went from $135 to $225) and the market around that time was peaking with lots of builders and new ideas. The thing with outsourcing is that there are a lot of markup in the final price for the consumer (cost of production, markup of the designer, markup of the dealer, markup of the outsourcing builder)

I just received a bearfoot fx email... their pedals are super pricey!! what gives? are they THAT good?

Their stuff has always been high. The good news, though, is they can be had for much cheaper secondhand. Example: new Mini Vibe $265 will run you $135-160 used.
